  1. On the single A side if Lyndie Ramsey from Unaka doesn't win miss basketball, imo, it would be a travesty. The girl had over 2900 points for her career while being double and triple teamed every game this year. Also outside the court she is an outstanding ambassador for the game of girls basketball. I know for a fact that she volunteers to help many special needs students in her free time too. Her character is second to none.

  2. To me as the one of the parents of Lyndie Ramsey with that statement of her character that means more to me than anything. Yes she does work with kids with special needs on her free time and her mom and I are very proud of the young lady she has become both on the court and off the court, thank you.

  3. That firework stand was ran by Cleveland Wrestlers. What’s that have to do with anything? I am glad you see that we are out busting our butts to give our program the best opportunities.

  4. Appreciate the insight and looks like Cougar will help fundraise next year.

  5. Cougar, when you heard that border wars was going to happen last year, what did you do? Did you ask if it was going to happen again this year so you could get involved? When you saw it happening again this year, did you ask the event planners how you could help (fundraising) or just sit on the sidelines and wait until the event was over to speak up? There’s some questions I doubt you’ll answer.

  6. TNUSAW definitely wanted to add girls. They reached out, and myself and Panone of GA were trying to make it happen. Problem is there was a donation to fund the boys singlets and event apparel given to the boys. We didn’t have that for the girls, so it was either wrestle the event with girls and make them pay….or not give the girls any gear. Neither were a good idea to myself or Panone. With girls wrestling going, hopefully people will help find these events financially in the future. Plan is to have this by next year and do it right. People DO care about girls wrestling in TN…. actually a lot of people. We just need to be proactive and get people involved who just want to help, in any way needed.

  7. no, you’re duplicating something that is already being done. I simply said, if you don’t like the current situation, do something about it instead of just complaining on couch T. That is what is wrong with the girls programs in Tennessee, everybody wants to complain. Nobody wants to do a darn thing! Unless it directly benefits their club/high school.

  8. Going to be tough to replace Jones and Carpenter, but they will definitely be in the mix.

  10. If White County continues playing like they have the last month then they win and advance.

  11. I’m all for the growth and success of women wrestling. I just don’t enjoy watching it. Nothing against the sport. I actually like watching women UFC fighters. Can’t dispute the fact that girls wrestling is the fastest growing sport in the country.

  12. LOL!!! In all seriousness, Cougar's head and heart are in the right place. Unfortunately, I think it boils down to the fact that the general masses are not as interested in women's wrestling right now as they are compared to men's. That is why with this event, for example, you had a donor willing to fund the gear for the boys, but not the girls. Simply put, that is where we are right now. That is a theme with all sports at all levels. Take the NBA v. the WNBA. If you offer a random person courtside seats to watch the Lakers play the Celtics or the LA Aces v. the Chicago Sky, I don't know many people that wouldn't pick the NBA game. Why? The level of play is so much higher watching Lebron James than it is at a WNBA game. These are just facts. Can women's wrestling still grow and become popular in Tennessee? Of course, and I think it will! While the general UFC fan is still more interested in watching two men battle it out in the octagon, the emergence of individual stars and rivalries like Rousey v. Tate/Holm, Shevchenko, Nunes, etc. have helped it grow into the mainstream. You just have to give it time. Women's wrestling in Tennessee is still a very new concept to most.

  13. I think Huntingdon will be in the mix next season. They only lost to the 1A and 2A champions and to Gibson Co. They were very competitive in all the loses.

  14. Just to clarify one thing, this isn’t a group of entrepreneurs running this event, this event was hosted by TNUSA which is completely non-profit. All of the money raised last night from PPV, concessions, gate, etc goes to the general fund which helps fund Fargo for Tennessee both boys and girls. They tried really hard to add girls this year but as Bosken posted they just weren’t able to put it all together. This is only the second year of the event and it was a lot bigger this year. Expect that it will keep growing and getting bigger.

  15. Reading is fundamental! This post was about the championship, so yea it was a landslide! I wasn’t talking about the path that got them to the championship! I said they won in a landslide in the championship! And “if” if was a fifth we’d all be drunk lol. Just congratulate people and move on!

  16. agreed. like i said, I dont have the personality to run a non-profit. maybe when I grow up. : )

  17. Did u have any doubt? The bearette faithful sure didnt. How many freshman have made MVP in a state tournament. Its murfreesboro or bust every year for us. 33 state appearances. Phenominal

  18. They said that in 2018 when howard left and the next year they won title so..

  19. We’ve been to the state tournament 11 straight years. If only people knew how many games we’ve lost due to the same thing he just said, need I remind some people of the cheatham county game? We’ve also been on the bad side of the whistle too.

  20. Can’t say you are wrong, GC definitely a favorite, but McMinn Central doesn’t have a Sr. Gat-Pitt only had one Sr who played much. All 3 are prohibitive favorites going into next season right now.

  21. Congrats to Bradley Central. You definitely have a special one in Fields. She was dominating and is one of those kids where you look up and she's got 20 (and you don't remember her getting them). BC is in for a fun 3 more years. I didn't know she was a freshman until your student section started cheering "she's a freshman" after the game. Impressive.

  22. Congrats to some incredible girls and a Coach (Reuter) that works harder than any that I know of. Possibly the best girls basketball program in TN… Very Deserving!

  23. Big misconception that Williamson pays better. It doesn’t. Coaching wise it’s way below average. Teacher wise it’s average.

  24. Yeah not impressive. Fields dominated 2 Division 1 bigs in the state tournament. The next 3 years are scary.

  25. Hot take: Fields is the best player in the state.

  26. Bearettes dominated all the way. Underrated as usual. Tbey keep saying they never play anybody blah blah blah. Well theu just showed poise and beat 2 of the top 4 teams in state in 3 days. I'm pixkong bradey to beat bartlett by 12 50-38.

  27. To add to this I doubt he would do very well simply because it is obvious he is only out for his own self-interest. The key to running the TSSAA and any other non-profit is doing what is best for everyone as a whole. Most of the people complaining are mad because something was not in THEIR favor. A real leader has to take the whole into consideration. Not a common trait these days.

  28. I’m curious to know why we could not get the best girls in TN and the best girls in GA together as well? Same question for the WN1 event we had in TN and we only had 1 girls wrestling match.
