If that last statement is true then Maryville has a much better team than Aloca and is coached much better. They thumped them with no D1 players like the Tornado's have. They must be a bunch of no names getting coached correctly and Alcoa has a bunch of trouble makers that get suspended if your statement is true. Maybe a chance for them to play at UT afterall.

just got in from the game. great alcoa performance. all of you from outside the knoxville area need to just ignore anything that this guy says. his opinion is so far narrow minded, he makes some politicians look reasonable.

 

to say that alcoa has no legit d1 prospects is just plain stupid. alcoa has the athletes to play at big time college schools and that is not one opinion but the opinion of many.

 

brandon warren is not legit????????? he is the topic of many florida state chat boards.

 

goodpasture made mistakes but alcoa caused alot of those. i suppose 55-13 is not a legit win????????

 

bottom line is that this guy thinks that everything has to be about maryville. maryville deserve credit for doing what they have and should get recognized for it. but it sounds like to me that this guy is jealous that alcoa is getting recognized for having great players who are not apart of maryville's team. he is jealous that alcoa has a mr football winner and maryville does not. he is jealous that there will be more seniors from alcoa playing major college ball next year than maryville seniors.

 

you really want to get him going??????? the maryville-alcoa game this year was not legit. the rebs would not have an answer for warren. he can split out wide and with his physical abilities and speed, maryville has no answer for him. no one else has either. i can tell you that ryan maples couldn't cover him.

 

would alcoa beat these so called "real" powerhouses????? not sure, but i can tell you this: you might be surprised. i believe that in a scrimmage this year, alcoa beat oak ridge. before you say, "it doesn't mean anything," i believe some maryville fans have been using that same justification for arguing that maryville would beat oak ridge.

 

this guy's assumption is that just b/c you play at a 2a school, you are not a legit d1 prospect. WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 

tell that to leroy thompson (a-e) penn state, bruce wilkerson (loudon) tennessee, shannon mitchell (alcoa) georgia, billy williams (alcoa) tennessee, chad pennington (webb 2a at the time) marshall, cory anderson (a-e) tennessee, patrick turner (goodpasture) usc. i could go on and on. this is ridiculous.

Excellent Post! I'm VERY proud of ALL of Alcoa's players. They all play their heart out every game. Why FBWhatshisname likes to post on a 2A board about a team

he can't stand even if it is from his hometown is beyond me. Just to stir up the pot and draw attention to himself, which I'm sorry to say he gets away with. His envy of Alcoa's program is so obvious but he'd never come close to admitting it. No, Alcoa didn't beat Maryville, we ALL know that. They have beaten Maryville in the past, and they will beat Maryville in the future. So, it is possible. Could Alcoa have beaten Maryville had Brandon played that night? We'll never know, will we? All that matters now is this Alcoa Team just won back to back State Titles and broke tons of state records this season. They are a special team, and we are so proud of them.

You go tell Melrose that Alcoa has more athletes than them and they will laugh in your face. Alcoa is good yes. But they are not even in the Top 10 in the state. It is amazing what some people think on this board. There is a big difference between 2a and 5a ball.

I live right here in BC and really the truth is the local paper is the pits in coverage, but IMO Alcoa was way over hyped here localy and state wide. They are a great 2A team and proved it tonight, but facing a real power they fold. The TV coverage was great and Goodpasture was never in the game after the first five min. Alcoa did not run all over GP, but took advantage of the many mistakes GP made. That is what good teams do to gain the edge. Still dancing and flexing in the endzones is too much for me, but congratz to AHS. Hope all are safe getting home.

Apparently you missed Gary Tucker flexing his biceps to the Mowest crowd last week after he made a sack. It was right there on T.V. No unsportsman like conduct call made. I personally did not have a problem with it but I just get tired of hearing about how that kind of stuff does not go on at MHS and how Alcoa has no class or discipline. Kids are kids and it happens everywhere.

Alcoa is one of the best teams I have ever seen. Like I said when I started this topic. I think its absolutley awesome that MARYVILLE beat these guys.

The reason Alcoa wouldn't beat all those top 5a and 4a teams is because we don't have the 1000+ students to help stack our football team. With the talent we do have with only 400+ students to think if we did have 1000+ we would be amazing, but we don't and won't unless Alcoa starts growing... Yes Alcoa would beat anyone through 3a quite convincingly with their athletes, but since Alcoa is small most of our players play both ways unlike the bigger schools who have athletes to fill all positions and keep their players fresh. The fact that we can routinely beat 4a and 5a schools with the amount of athletes show coaches and media that we have some bigtime athletes and legitimate D1 players on our team. Alcoa has to take what they can get for football players because we're so small, but it is amazing that we have had such great athletes come from our school, there is a amazing pool of talent in Alcoa. I think most Maryville fans realize this and respect Alcoa except for one game in the year. There the few fans that hate Alcoa for whatever the reasons, but you have to respect us for how well we do with what we got b/c we should be in 1a b/c most 2a schools have between 500 to 600 students. Maryville has some good athletes, but their O-line and D-line is awesome, but again that comes with having 1000+ students.

 

Congrats to Alcoa on a dominating 55-13 win and hope Maryville and Oakridge brings one back too.

Congratz to Alcoa.

 

Alcoa is no Maryville or Oak Ridge. True the coaching is great but like many people the hard playing and tough kids playing for Maryville are over looked, by the local press and many others. That's Ok we'll take the wins and gold balls over the hype the other teams any day.

a scrimage is not a real game but Alcoa hammered Oakridge in a scrimage early in the season. As for Maryville game this year. Alcoa stunk, and I am an Alcoa fan. Others have mentioned this before but for some reason it seems Alcoa cannot get over the mental hurdle of playing Maryville.

 

A plus for Maryville however, they have a great program and a great coaching staff! Good luck to them this afternoon. Bring another Gold Ball home to Blount Co!

There is no such poll. It is all opinions, whether it be FBE's , yours or mine. Everyone is entitled to one and stating one does not make it true or untrue. It is still just an opinion , but it is what makes these boards go.

I have played Coacht's Big ones pick's with a sucess rate over 82% thru out the play-offs. I have referenced Sonny's site for all of my picks. I feel it is very accurate.

 

I also looked at Gerry's Big ones picks...............and uh, its not real good!
