Cards sign Sydney Ponson

Recommended Posts

I'm looking forward to us getting Rolen back. With him, Jimmy E, and Fat Albert we will still have one of the best lineups in the N.L. I'm still looking for a big FA pickup also.

Not alot left out there in the FA market! Heres the best left:

Antonio Alfonseca

Rich Aurilia

Danny Bautista

Kevin Brown

Jeromy Burnitz

Roger Clemens

Erubiel Durazo

Alan Embree

Shawn Estes

Juan Gonzalez

Shigetoshi Hasegawa

Richard Hidalgo

Al Leiter

Tino Martinez

Matt Mantei

Bengie Molina

Rafael Palmeiro

Mike Piazza

J.T. Snow

Sammy Sosa

Frank Thomas

Preston Wilson

Didn't Burnitz sign with the Orioles?

Jimmy E is getting up there though. Every year I expect him to fall apart.

I'm not expecting a FA signing as much as I am Jocketty working one of his deals. I think it is hinging on Ponson through to be dependable. If he proves he is, we have 6 legit starters, and therefore trade material for say....another outfielder?

I know not many people will agree with me on this but I think the Cards should sign Sammy. St. Louis loves him, I don't see him hitting 40 homeruns anymore but I think he could hit 25-30 a year and become a fan favorite once again.

Too much of a locker room nuisance. Plus he strikes out too much.

I guess another thing this offseason is that a lot depends on how much J-rod can improve. The guy was an absolute beast at the plate last year and if he can improve in the outfield then I would be completely fine with him flanking Edmonds on either side.

J-Rod makes me too nervous in the outfield. I love his bat, but would much rather have three Jim Edmonds in the outfield, but wouldn't everyone? :thumb:
