You have way too much time on your hands! :roflol: You should check out Illinois high school nicknames or high schools in the Midwest; they are really strange.

it's now closed but tennessee prepatory nickname was the bronco busters.with all the coal mining history in claiborne county and the rivalry between the 2 schools there i thought claiborne should have been called the 49ers and cumberland gap the miners.oh btw coming in 2008 the grainger county high grizzlies.i'm from illinois bellgo and the do have some awesome nicknames there

I know this is supposed to be for highschools but last year i went to a Mars Hill college(Lions) game against Presbyterian College(Blue Hose). I sat and listened to Mars Hill chearleaders yell "GO, LIONS BEAT THOSE HOSE" all evening. The 1st time they yelled this my 12yr old son and his friends almost fell off the bleachers laughing.

I have always wondered (well, since they became a school) how Silverdale figures themselves to Seahawks. They are miles from the nearest sea. Anyone have a clue?

My county in WV had six high schools. Only one was an animal; the rest were human mascots: Minutemen, Rebels, two Indians, Rough Riders, and the Owls.

RICHLAND OWNERS

WAVERLY CRACKERS

GLEASON CHOIR

SEYMOUR BUTTS

BUT THE COCKE COUNTY FIGHTING COCKS COULD PLAY THE CHATTANOOGA PURPLE POUNDERS. YOU CAN SEE THE CHEER COMING FROM THE POUNDERS CAN'T YOU.

Wow, lets just hope these two schools try and schedule a game, even though that would be pretty funny.

    • I remember very well watching things change in the late 80's and yes it's all schools. Most people that are in charge today have any idea because they were raised and taught under this social experiment so they don't have a clue. Anyone that does see the truth for what it is usually try and hide it by blending in so that the School Gestapo doesn't round them up and take them to the Fuhrer ( kindly putting it ). Yes it is all schools not just Maryville. This train ride is not headed in a good direction and if the public had seen a movie of what's happening now back in 1980 everyone would have been headed home afterwards to change underware.
    • Hoping to make the playoffs.
    • You are so correct!  It’s really 99.9% of academia want to change to way that education is not only taught but the way it is viewed.  The pendulum has definitely swung as far to the left as possible and eventually will swing to the right much too far.  I have always  said that politics and one’s personal religious views need to stay out of education,  but for the last 40 years education has been running full throttle to what we have today.  If the social experiment that we are currently experiencing continues it is only a matter of time before the public school system in the USA completely collapses and all kids attend private schools or even worse don’t go to school.
    • He was a bruise but Aaron Dykes is HVA’s best RB ever.
    • I am talking about what they both did for their team. They both carried their team for four years while they were both there. I wasn’t really comparing them that would be unfair. Bishop is on a level of his own.
