To my knowledge there are only 4 "Devil" teams in Tennessee.

1)Jo Byrns Red Devils

2)Germantown Red Devils ( I think)

3)White House Blue Devils

4)Greeneville Green Devils (Just learned that one)

Midway "Green Waves" aka South of the river trash

Wow!I have been around the Midway rivalry for over 30 yrs and would never call a bunch of hardworking kids trash.Terrible post!

Has anybody corrected Greeneville's nickname?  It is Greene Devils.  This thread was started nine years ago.  I'm sure someone has corrected it by now, but I didn't see it in the first four pages and I'm not going to go through 21 pages.  Anyhow, Greene Devils, not Green.  

 

The best HS nickname is Syrupmakers.  Cairo HS in Georgia.  ESPN named it the best HS nickname in the nation.  Their girls are called Syrupmaids.

In 1926, Large John and the "Crimson Whirlwind"beat the Walland "Leathernecks" the Lenoir City " Hosiery Makers" and the Sevierville "Hill Billies".

 

 

Along those lines, I think the old Etowah HS had a great name.  Piledrivers or something like that.

Hillwood is also the Hilltoppers

 

It's been nearly 10 years but Joliet Catholic,Hillsboro,Danville Schlarman,Mount Pulaski & Glenbard West in Illinois are the Hilltoppers.

I played in a pickup game at a school in Etowah over 30 years ago I was told was the old highschool. We walked through the cafeteria into the gym. They hand fold up chairs mounted in the side of the wall. They had to fold up cause the inbound lines were right there. Made out of wood and iron. The rafters were right at the top of the backboard and at one end was a stage. I assume back in the day that's where the people sat to watch the games.
