Samantha White and Rachel Collins should start...although this is a very deep bench with Duncan, King, McIntyre and Payne. Carter, Deans and Dickson have plenty of help in their quest for region 1 domination.

If you are going to talk with such authority about the Lady Devils, at least get your facts straight. Samantha White quit early last season, Claire Duncan hasn't played in 2 years and Payne did not return either.

tonight's games....

Morristown West beat South Greene by 11 -- but no details of who did what in the game..

Cocke County lost by 9 to Bearden in 2OT. Cocke County led by 10 to open the 4th and Bearden pulled to within five and a controversial technical foul (two girls with a held ball on the floor and in the scramble for the ball one girl kicked another one) on Cocke County gave Bearden momentum with free throws.

Cocke County was down 3 late and Morgan Buda connected on a lay-up and was fouled and converted the three point play.

Cocke County was down 2 late in the 1OT and got an offensive board and putback off a missed free-throw to extend it to the 2OT.

Foul trouble got the best of them there and they lost 4 players on foul outs...

Sophomore Brittany Watson stepped up big for West. Katie LeMarr had a good game and Lauren Jones was great on defense.

Morristown East defeated Cosby last night 78-75 in regulation and shot only 5 of a possible 22 freethrows. Domika Holt (sr) had game high for East of 14 Kayla Orrick (fresh) contributed 9 points, had the next to last basket to take the lead and assisted in the steal on the inbounds that resulted in her getting a lay up to seal it as time ran out. Leah Leeper (soph) added 9 also to the talley. All 15 girls played and all but 2 got in the books. Cosby's #3 had a 24 point offensive attack including 3 - 3's. As a team Cosby was 14-19 from the line. Edited by trottercoach

Jefferson County beat South Doyle tonight 45-44. Trailed 12-5 at the end of the first qtr, held a 35-28 lead entering the 4th qtr, led by as many as 10, before pulling out the victory.

Solid game for several ladies, first "Road" test for the team. 8 different players scored.

Next test, hosting Cocke County Friday night.

Cocke County lost by 10 AT Gatlinburg-Pittman tonight. They lost to them in summer ball too.

Not a surprise with their young team.

Pivotal game for both teams on Friday night...

First Conference Games Friday:

Can West find enough offense versus a Cherokee team that I thought should be better than they are playing? Can someone else pick up the load Friday? Seems like so far, every game has one constant for West - Ms Lemarr - and they find someone else to throw in enough points to help out.

Can Cocke County's size stop Jefferson County? Can Jeff County contain Buda?

My predictions - West wins by 10, Jefferson County wins a tight one at home over Cocke County.

What say you? :thumb:

I like Cocke County over Jefferson County. But it depends on which two squads show up.

The Jeff County who won over Farragut or lost to DB and beat South Doyle by one. Or the Cocke County who won their first two (and looked very competitive in their third game) or the Cocke County who lost their last two.

Both teams on an even level, Cocke County has the athletic Buda and the size with Depew and Bryant. Both of those girls are taller than anyone on the court Friday (if in fact the Jeff County roster and height is accurate on here)...

Cocke County is young, and I'm going to assume Jefferson County is as well. So youth may play a factor.

The game could be won on outside shooting. i've not seen Cocke County play in two games, but in their opening two, they didnt have any consistent outside shooting threat at all.

    • I’ve known a few players who went through TKA, and the only problem is the line, like athletes up there are easy to come by. There’s been great athletes came through TKA. It’s just they can never find a line and the ones they do aren’t that good.
    • Pretty sure it’s the school he is zoned for, but TKA wasn’t sure if they were going to have a football team this upcoming season, like a months ago. A lot of the good players hit the hay, mainly to GP, but a few went to Concord, which is a school in Knoxville, making a lot of questionable promises, and the rest just went back home to places like Clinton, South Doyle, Seymour, etc.
