what happened with Maryville?

I hate to say it but this Maryville team has had fumble trouble to a greater extent than any MHS team I have seen. That is the reason Maryville is not going for a six-peat! It was cold but no excuses they got to hang on to the skin if they want to advance vs. the better teams they will face this year. Oh well a win is a win and maybe it will be what this team needs.

Dont get me wrong I think Maryville is an awesome team but I was kinda hoping Brainerd would pull off the upset.

I bet GQ pealed some hide after the game and I would say practice next week will be fun to watch!

Well I'm still impressed six fumbles and still come out victorious. Wow thats a conflict of interest but still impressive. Look at poor old Powell tonite they layed the ball on the ground and it wasn't even close.

You got to believe GQ will get them in shape next week. But I agree with a earlier post and I noticed it at Halls, Maryville looks to pass first then run and the ratio has to be lob sided to the aerial attack is it because of Tank's injuries?

Well not really true, if you look at the stats Maryville is very balanced in it's off. schemes. GQ loves the pass but uses it very different than many. Maryville does not offten go for the bomb but uses the pass like a quick strike. They do go deep but will take what the other team will yeald in most cases. If the O is stalled GQ will call a crafty play to shake up the D and if they don't defence it he'll burn them with it.

Like I said a win is a win and we'll take it. Brainred played hard nosed football and Maryville needed it. They will be ready for Rhea Co., you can count on that!

I'm not sure what to think, I've heard of these turnover problems on a few occassions with Maryville this year. Thus, it would seem that they would have been straightened out by now if it was going to get fixed. However, I never put anything past the GQ magic. To conclude though, Maryville won't beat Red Bank or other quality 4A opponents with 6 turnovers.

I was at the game, and it was definitely a real scare! Yes, Maryville shot themselves in the foot over and over in the game. But a lot of credit also needs to be given to Brainerd. They played inspired, hard-nosed football all night. Their intensity and athletic ability surprised everyone in the stadium. Hard to say what the score may have been if Maryville hadn't turned the ball over 5 times, but Brainerd certainly took advantage of every chance they got and never let up. Still, as said, a win is a win - and an ugly win like this just might be what it takes to light a fire under the Reb players that might be getting a little too overconfident.

I also very much have to agree with a poster on the other Maryville/Brainerd board. I won't even comment about the numerous fans that didn’t even bother to show up at all. This is for the ones that did: I also was shocked at the blahseh who-gives-a-crap attitude of many of the Maryville fans at the game. Keep in mind that it's got to be really bad for me to attack a group of folks that I consider to be my peers. Come on folks! This is the playoffs! Maryville has a giant bullseye on its back and there are no guaranteed wins. How bout some noise? How bout some excitement? It's almost as if half the crowd was asleep until the 4th Qtr and then all of a sudden an alarm went off saying "geesh…….we could actually lose this game, we'd better get in to it". Yes, it was cold and clapping gloves don't make as much noise as clapping hands; but how bout some yelling?? I can assure you that the fans for the opposition will be hollering as loud as their lungs will allow at the thought of dethroning the Rebels. It was downright embarrassing at times tonight when about 40 Brainerd fans stood the whole game and outcheered the much bigger crowd on the home side. We can’t let this happen again.

A question for a Maryville fan that might know: is there any reason that the student section couldn’t move to the middle of the stadium for the playoff games? Am I correct that the boosters’ section isn’t reserved for playoff games? I have never been in approval of sticking the students down in the end zone section of the stands, but to do so during the playoffs is ridiculous and missing out on a great opportunity to fire up the crowd and the team. Is it possible to get this done for next weeks Rhea County game?

They would not do that because there would be people that don't want to stand up and yell...believe me we were asked to sit down last year at the MOWEST game and some have even complained that sit right behind the student section AT HOME...besides you don't want to give the administration another chance to take the fun out of football games at Murvul.

noone has written west off but everyone knows that Red Bank is the favorite and will more than likely pull off a 20+ pt win so everyone is already looking forward to the Maryville/Red Bank matchup cause more than likely the winner of this game will be the state champs

Red bank is not the faviorite in my mind vs. Knotz West.

Maryville has one game to win and that is vs. Rhea County, nothing else matters. After last nights game Maryville will have a very sprited practice and get focused upon that game and that game only. Looking ahead if foolish.
