lipscomb vs. giles co

As I said on the other thread it's going to be:

David Lipscomb: 21

Giles County: 14

The Mustangs offense will run the football though the yards won't come in such big chunks against this Giles defense (which is stout). Hunt went 0/2 passing with 2INT's in the first meeting between these two. Giles County's offense will be more efficient with Dunnavant at QB because now they can both throw it as well as run some veer with he and Josh Perez. Then there is Sam Edgmon who's going to post solid numbers against most anyone. As I said earlier though Lipscomb's version of the "4 Horsemen" in Elrod, Holt, Moneypenny, & Davis will win it in the end and their defense is now playing good enough to hold on late at home.

Big Country,

Which of Lipscomb's backs do you think is the best? I am sure the popular choice is Elrod because of last year success and his continued performance this year. However, I think Holt and Moneypenny actually look faster and are more explosive. What do you think?

Holt & Moneypenny are the faster of the four backs in my mind as well. They would be considered as the "home run threats". I like Elrod so much because he runs with such power, though he doesn't look like a power back at first glance, between the tackles. When Lipscomb comes out and runs the belly and the trap it's the scariest thing of all because #40 always have the ability to take it the distance. Davis has deceiving speed and is an excellent blocker from his wing position.

Last year, that being the 2005 campaign, Elrod was DL's top back statistically HOWEVER this viewer personally thought that the Mustangs best rusher with the football in his hands was quarterback Clay Smith. You don't have to take my word for it though just go and ask Lexington's star player from last year who got trucked by Smith in that quarterfinal game and he never returned afterwards.

Hello? Is anyone home? Clay Smith was certainly good, but better than Elrod? come on now!

You put Elrod at QB last year and Smith at FB last year and I guarantee you that Clay would have put up great numbers as well in that offense behind the line that they had last year. Clay was the QB because there was a lack of options not because he was going to be compared to Joe Montana back there

BC: Clay Smith was plugged in at quarterback because Lipscomb had no one else ready. (His brother LUUUKe was the QB at Lipscomb during the late 90's) Clay his junior year finally made the starting lineup around week 2 or 3 at strong corner. He was a natural hard hitter. If Lipscomb had someone ready last year, Clay would have still been at corner or safety, not a QB.

Clay did an exceptional job last year and help lead the Mustangs to the Title Game. He was a good leader.

He should start by telling you how to spell intelligent:)

Maybe I do need to learn how to use a keyboard. Do you have Lipscomb vs Giles Co. comment or do you just check coach T boards for spelling errors. I was trying to talk about the game but you then you get some off the wall comment from your own fan. Its great to be (inteeligente)

Since you are new to Coach T. and Coach 5 has forgotten this is

CoachT Forums > Fall Sports > Football > Football: Classes 1A-2A-3A

Football is more than just the X's and O's of a game...its the Game Day Experience its about Tradition. Its The Vol Walk, Its Touchdown Jesus, Its the Battle Cry War Eagle, Its that Livingston Academy saying (can't remember) Its Smokey, Its UGA, its your school playing the fight song or the Alma Mater, Its the playing of the National Anthem, or at schools its the invocation, its the running thru the T, its the frying of catfish and hush puppies at Tyner, its the patting of that special sign in the locker room before heading out to the field, its Boomer Sooner, its Sooie Pig Sooie, its the Ramblin Wreck of Georgia Tech, its the song You've Got to be a Football Hero, its the student body lining up with the sign for the team to run thru, and its much much more...Its all a part of Football. The last time I checked, I was posting in the Football Message Boards of Coach T.

Didn't you ever see the movie "A League of Their Own"? Just as there is no crying in baseball, there is to be no humor in football.

Have you never seen ESPN college game day? It's all business. No smiling, no humor, only x's and o's. Lee Corso is Mister serious. When he put on that hog mask last Saturday morning, well, it was as deep and life changing as when Winston Churchill rallied the English by saying "We shall fight them on the beaches. ... we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills;..."

Since we only want x's and o's here, then lets get down to where the rubber meets the road. How will Lipscomb adjust to trips when Giles county puts 3 wide and how will Giles County adjust to Lipscomb shifting their tight end from one side to the other?

That is what we really care about! By the way. I apologize to anyone who was offended that I referred to Hollywood, baseball, NASCAR and history in this post. I am sorry for any distress it may have caused.

We need to be very, very careful and stick to X's and O's or Coach5 will closed this thread.

    • Did this happen? Does anyone know? Ripley has their HC job posted on the bulletin board over the weekend.
    • Coalfield definitely isn't the same team they've had the past few years. They are still the favorites to make it out of their region because of their pitching. They have 1 arm that sits low to mid 80s and 2 other arms that are mid to high 70s with good off speed stuff. If you can avoid their top 3 bats in their lineup then you have a shot to beat them. Their 4-9 hitters are average at best. Wartburg's ace was able to shut them down last week in the game Wartburg won 4-2.
    • It is the longest season. Plus, 30 games a year. No Christmas break. I would say basketball is the most time consuming.
    • No movement on Chester? South Gibson? Gibson County?
    • Winfree's senior year was the season she needed to secure more college interest. That opportunity was taken away from her. A lot of false assumptions can be made about what happened and what the options are. Unfortunately, the former coach and administration did not allow Winfree to have due process. A lawsuit was filed for a reason, and it will run its course by people who conduct discovery and take depositions. Unless the parties settle out of court, a lot of the pertinent issues will come to the public surface. I wrote about many of the issues here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/11/17/grounds-for-investigation-and-suspension/ I interviewed Winfree after she was dismissed from the team and wrote about it here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/12/01/a-new-interview-with-sable-winfree/ Winfree had been on teams in Warren County since the fourth grade and never been dismissed from a team. The real questions are why was Winfree dismissed from the team, and why the administration backed a coach whom they did not rehire.
