A high standard. :thumb:

You need to hire a coach like Coach Edens. Thats what the locals want even if they don't know it. Mac was a winner but he was not Coach Edens. Coach Tharp, well not like coach Edens. The last coach, was NOT coach Edens. You had better hire someone who loves football, knows football, and has the ability to build a program for the long haul. There may never be another coach in the county like Coach Edens but he set the standards for all who follow.

Of the many, many, MANY problems this team and program had this year, one of the biggest was the unbelievably poor offensive line. This was a group who had lost only 2 starters from the 2005 team (Locke and Perry).

I'm not going to say anything about any one player, but as a unit it was unbelievable how bad they were.

Now, if I recall, the offense averaged over 200 yards rushing for the most of their games. What more do you want from an offensive line? They did give up some sacks early, but improved each week on that stat. Turnovers and incomplete passes hurt more than an "unbelievably poor offensive line." It is easy to blame a coach that is no longer there, though.

We can have Bobby Sharp and his offense in Lewisburg by 5:30 in the morning. He is currently on the road to Nashville with the team for a "fun day" before the big game. He does not even think the kids have a chance. We are sick and tired of the 1931 wing-t that the nursing home can defend. By the way they left school @ 9:30 am.

say you are sick of coach Sharp and the wing t, but don't speak for everyone in LC, Coach Sharp is one the best coaches if not the best LC has ever had and as far as "fun day" those kids and remember we are talking about kids here, deserve it

Points, baby. It's all about how many you hang on the board.

And in that regard, there's no comparison to last year.

A high standard. :D

AMEN and AMEN

Not a perfect man by anyone's standards but he is about as close as you will ever find. He could coach, he could handle the off field things, boosters, fundraisers etc.

He always was a good coach and I would still consider him to be today if he decided to give up the admin position at Cornersville High School and return to the field. He was easy going but at the same time would get into your butt along with his master mind of defense Joe George and in the end you loved them for what they were doing for each and every player. These two together made players by molding the kids into better people and preparing them for life after high school.

There will only be one Bob Edens and unfortunately for his predecessors he set the mark high at MCHS.:angry::lol:

Joe George the master mind of defense um wasn't he on staff the last two years and those teams gave up about 30 per game.

Why did Mac go? Are you serious? The PLAYERS (not the parents or community leaders :thumb: ) started a petition to try to get rid of him. (How's that for "politics" and getting "attached to their coach" :( )It's fair to say that each player had his own reasons, but the GENERAL consense was that he was....well......crazy (He was also losing control of the program.....and himself.) But that's another story......

As far as Coach Johnson goes, I'd say that the 3-7 record was just a small piece of the pie of why he was let go........lots of other things thrown in there that led to that decision.....and I'm sure PLENTY I don't know about. You'll have to find you an "insider" to know it all.

Go Tigers

Are you sure you heard the whole story about that petition? First of all, there were actually only a few players who really wanted Mac out. The others were coerced into signing and that was proven when they were individually asked. (My son was pressured by the upperclassmen but was one of the few who actually stood up and refused to sign the petition) I personally don't think he was losing control of the program, but that's just my opinion. As far as "crazy", well, alot of coaches get a little "crazy" on the sidelines. He really got into the games. It was actually entertaining at times!(ha ha) We miss him.

Coach Johnson resigning was a shock to his players, despite the losing season. I don't know, or care, what he did at his old school, he treated these boys well. We can only hope that whoever we get comes in and lifts the spirit of these young men. Who knows...maybe he'll last 3 years! Best of luck to all young men who work so hard to represent their school!
