statstracker
The TSSAA needs to take into account on the 50/50 rule that some communities do not have more than one AAU team for the kids to choose from. Are you going to punish the ones that want to play because some of their teammates are on the same team as them? Does not seem right to me. Indian
Cutting out some potential camp time and open gym time are things I don't like. That helps even out things for the teams that don't work at it.

No spring practice for basketball? Wow? How or when will teams have tryouts? Not sure I understand all of them....but I feel sure they will be covered soon enough....barf

We were better because we worked harder and longer. Just like everything else these days we want to not reward hard work and effort because it might make someone feel bad about themselves etc... (2) That It's time for schools that give a darn about their student athletes chances at the next level to stand up and demand that the T$$AA get out of their lives. (3)That we should all take a lot of video next year so in years to come we can remember the way it was in the good ole days. Of course, if the T$$AA enforces this rule like they do all their other so called rules, not much will change and we can all just forget that the T$$AA existed in the first place. They most certainly need to go the way of the Dinosaurs. WELL, Til Next Year, HOOPS TO YA!!!! kw
bigdave25
It is my understanding that this will be to deal with in TMSAA schools also.

That was a time to integrate 8th graders and freshman into the program and to analyze what you have returning as far as a basketball team. Many underclassman don't step up and show their true potential until the seniors are no longer on the court. It is a bad rule if you are a one sport athlete, but if you play multiple sports it will probably be beneficial. The rule seems kind of one sided. It is a blow for those girls and boys who live and breathe one sport. Makes you wonder who was pushing this? probably the coaches of other sports who were losing players for 2 weeks in the spring because of b-ball practice. These are pretty much the same rules that have applied in North Carolina high school basketball for years. It hasn't hurt their programs at all. What a lot of programs do over there is attend two or three summer camps. I don't think they have a 50% rule, which brings me to this: how will small areas with only one high school, junior high, etc., allow their kids to play aau ball? I'm not a great fan of aau($$$), which I feel is a glorified rec league, but if kids choose to play, they should be allowed to play on a team of their choice, or at least try out. raiderray
The story says it is effective with the 2007 / 2008 School year. Does that mean that this summer's opportunites are still the same as they have been? Does the 50% rule go into effect (for AAU) next spring? How does this affect Fall Leagues next fall? I read this to mean "not going to happen".
