83SouthRebel
Bottom line is this. It is not even week "1" yet. South is a good team, barring injury they will get better. One game at a time please. Until it is playoff time, we don't need to discuss this.
megahops24
South is an injury away from not even winning their conference. They won't get past Maryville,if they even get to Maryville.
compusatman
First of all...it was not a South'er that started this thread. Second of all...delete the thread.
REBELRON
As a Maryville fan I am worried about Alcoa right now.
formerblazer
Welcome to post season.........wait a minute, it's week 1, Maryville isn't at round 4, South isn't at round 4, counting your chickens before they hatch is a great way for your season to end early. Tornado89
A lot of people think, this was Souths year to beat DB. DB was up for the task against Maryville in preseason play, nomatter what happens in 5A play for DB. When it's all on the line and Maryville is showing all their cards, can South be the big boysl this year. I've said before they could go deep into the playoffs,so I'll say yes The answer is NO. While Phillips presents match up problems for anyone, Sullivan South doesn't come close to having a running game to compete with Maryville. That is my observation from watching thursday night's game. However, they are disciplined and well coached. They do have a couple of nice offensive lineman and number 11 is a gamer. Never know though, that's just my early season observation. dobynsbennett123
Greeneville needs to beat Mercer County Ky. first Mercer must have a lot of kids to pick from. They could be as big a test as any team around east Tennessee. All of Tennessee will be pulling for you however. How well we know that in Kingsport. We have 13 titles and are the winningest team in the state, but have counted a billion chickens since the playoff system started. This thread is all in fun,and as any old player knows. If you look past your next game,it may be your last.
jcflash
This is a joke. South this year is just like that Tennessee High team from a few years back, 04 or 05 i think, that came in to the maryville game undefeated and claiming they were gonna take down the giant. Well Maryville went to TN High and beat them 49-0. The game was never close. Maryville isn't a flashy team per say they are like a machine...You'll watch them go four yards, five yards, two yards, three yards, sixteen yards, four yards, then forty yards. It's a different brand of football in Knoxville. I would pay to see that game too, so all the pretenders from the mountain lakes will realize that there isn't much real football played east of Knoxville. Sullivan South is a good football team. Maryville traditionally fields great football teams. It would be a good matchup. As far as football in Knoxville, with the overwhelming number of athletes going D1 from Knox programs, your point is well taken?? When teams build a great tradition, it attracts athletes. Maryville and Alcoa benefit with an influx of talent from many different places. They have good industry, good jobs, good schools, and a good record of attracting lots of families with athletes. I don't think the people there recruit; they don't have to---the programs do the recruiting. Good luck to both SS and Maryville on having good seasons. barb
Greeneville needs to beat Mercer County Ky. first Baby, Mercer County means diddly-squat...a good showing against a team like Mercer , win or lose, will tell a lot about what GV is made of...but I digress, this IS after all the Sullivan South getting "passed" by Maryville thread and we should at least let DB123 get his licks in now while his star is healthy cause if he gets banged up, it will be a long season for those Rebels
