Tomcats went from looking pretty good to possibly missing the playoffs. Now fighting for 3rd or 4th place. tomcats were emotionally drained after win over FW, a game they did'nt feel they would win & probably should'nt. Several big penalities and bad punt snaps really hurt FW. Did'nt play well against DC. Tomcats must get it back on track this week if going to make the playoffs. Look for Cov to upset the Cats. They've had two weeks to prepare plus fall break. Cov still has enough talent to win despite coaching situation. Haywood has too much talent to miss playoffs but can happen if they don't take care of bizness. Hate to say

I agree Haywood has as much talent as anyone in west Tn,

Athlete wise I think JCM has the best (but with little or no leadership,discipline,organization &/or lack of football knowledge) it does'nt show.

Athlete wise in west Tn I would put

1.JCM

2.Haywood County

3 Dyersburg (with OC's best player)

4 Jackson South Side

5. Fayette Ware

6 Brighton (loads of talent, however mediocre)

7 Covington (lots of talent-not getting it done)

 

*Reflects athletes only not rank of teams

Coach Wayne Randall gets the most out of the least @ Munford

 

Memphis area most athletes

1 Whitehaven

2 Ridgeway

3 Melrose

4 White Station

5 Millington

6 Mitchell

7 Kingsbury

 

Memphis area top teams

1. Millington

2 White StatIon

3. Whitehaven

4. Melrose

5 Kingsbury

I believe Haywood will finish strong & get a good seed for the playoffs. Is it me, or does this season seem to be flying by? Four more weeks of regular season...the playoffs will be here before we know it.

 

On a side note: the Haywood Freshmen/JV's are having an outstanding season. Looks like the future is bright for the Tomcats!

Haywood will be in the playoffs..play has been erratic but they have the players. Should Dyersburg win the region they will have their hands full with region 8-aaa teams with possible 2nd meeting with the Tomcats .Tomcats will possibly have to play Mitchell or Sheffield which are Always Tough to beat ,but they seem to always play Memphis teams very well. Sheffield and Michell are to be Highly regarded no matter their oppontent. Tomcats could still get in as #2 seed in region 7-aaa should DC falter but they are playing with Enthusiam,Desire,Heart =Choctaws are on a Mission this year. GO TROJANS! GO CHOCTAWS!

Tomcats will be ok. they will make the playoffs.

 

The other day when I said ya'll could likely match up with McNairy I forgot ya'll were Region 7. Matching up with Memphis makes for a tough draw, because those folks make any school a tough and hostile environment. I'd 10 times rather play a Hunters Lane or Maplewood than ANY of those Memphis inner-city schools.

Just a note i have seen no less that 15 different higih school kids in middle tennessee the the GATA garb on this fall. I guess ya'll better get it trademarked quick cause your leaving alot of money on the table.

      Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!

      I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
