He is a bit stubborn like that. Actually he was trying to make our WR's learn how to get open under double coverage...knowing they would see it again and again. Sort of sacrificed the game in order to teach them a lesson in getting open. But don't pride yourself on stuffing the run 'cause you didn't.

 

You are correct and we did so again against THS when we had drove the ball down the field running, went to 4 straight pass plays and came away with no points. I say dance with the one that brung ya. I hope thats the last of the "stubborn" streaks we see.

Well I have seen him only once and I'm not doubting him but I didn't see him last year as being so talented he could do whatever he wanted to. I think it will take a team effort to win in the playoffs not just one person. Remember everyone is one play away from being a spectator.

 

 

This is not true. If a lineman makes a key block to spring Mr. Phillips free for a 89 yard game winning touchdown, does the big man get any credit? Nope, but thats how we like it. I have said it before I will say it again.

As I said , South may have already peaked this year. If they have, they may have

trouble stopping the slide. Just a thought from the other side. I have seen times when

nothing works like is supposed to. This Friday may be one of those times.

East is coming into this game ready to play and will have no excuses if South wins. M-E will

bring the game to South and try to knock them off their #1 ceding. The pressure will be on

South to hold on . Maybe South can hold on to the top spot --maybe not. M-E is not ceding

anything to South and the talk is about over and we will see who walks the walk.

Yeah he said we will not lose another regular season game b/c he knew he had to play Greeneville again. That would be biting off more then he could chew. You know i feel sorry for everyone else at SS. This is a one man show see if here in the playoffs that philosphy doesn't go to some of the players head. Like hey what about us

 

I wish you could understand how stupid that sounds to a South player or fan. You just don't know the makeup of this team. All the players respect Curt Phillips, because he has worked as hard as any and harder than most. Each player understands their role and has played hard each week to do their job, whether it is Off. Guard, DE, or place-kicker. Sure, everyone enjoys to see their name in the paper, but no one on this team is jealous of Curt's fame.

This is a team--------make no mistake.

We got to take each game one at a time--but-----------------------------------------

I'm gonna have to back you up on this one. Just an old time reciever here but they ain't no "I" in TEAM and South Rebels are a team. From what I hear around the block here, the team is focused on the task at hand. All have prepared for the battle and the coaching staff does not have favorites. They geuninely respect, love, and challenge all the kids. QB always gets the press but I've noticed the media giving some others interviews lately. There is a respect on the team for self, others, and coaches that will make the kids winners no matter where they go. That coach of yours is a class act.............always has been even back in the day. Focus man, and the rest will fall into place.

GREAT POST… and I feel ya on Greeneville!! If they should make it by East this week and we beat Volunteer….IT”S ON next week!! It’s about time for them to learn a lesson about respect. There is a reason SOUTH and THS are ranked as two of the States top ten teams (#4 and #5 on unapproved website /ohmy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":o" border="0" alt="ohmy.gif" /> Sorry didn't know) and Greenville is not. And it goes way deeper than the records or the conferences we play in. As a matter of fact MoWest is still ranked higher than Greenville in most poles… now that’s respect, or disrespect depending on whether you support MoWest or Greeneville.

Two very true statements - the "Curt quote" was only about the regular season and the comment that M-E is a tough 4 seed. In fact, I think M-E is the toughest 4 seed in the 4A playoffs, statewide.
