As I have done the past two years, this poster congrats all of the posters on this thread for the way you have kept your District and region aware of what is going on. As you might see there are other districts that do the same for information sake. I look in to your site many times during the season to see how things are doing. We did post awards early and I am of the belief they were not supposed to be sent to the media until a time later. One of the newspapers, not knowing, posted the list and looking at the Web site, someone picked it up and posted. the list was deleted by the newspaper later but the players at all schools were given the info. the same must have happened in 8AAA also. this poster has enjoyed looking at your work.

No posts on semifinal night?

Cherokee and Greeneville should be interesting if the Lady Chiefs can crack the Greeneville defense. Thats a big if, but Cherokee performed well against Jefferson County.

Morristown West and Cocke County is another interesting game. Cocke County has beaten West four straight, and Cocke County has a distinct size advantage in the paint. But if Kelly Smith is hitting from the outside, look out.

Finals and consolation are set for Monday.

6:00 Cherokee vs Cocke County (Consolation)

7:30 Greeneville vs Morristown West (Championship)

Let's get the thoughts started on these two games, especially with the upset of Dobyns Bennett over Tennessee High. Could make the regional tournament very interesting.

The Lady Trojans came up with a big win tonight against Cocke Co. in a very well played basketball game. The no. 6 seed has now knocked off nos. 2 & 3. Can they do it one more time? It will be a tough match-up but West seems to be the only team with Greeneville's number of late. They are the only district team to beat the Lady Devils (at home) and lost only by 4 at Greeneville. Good luck Lady Trojans and good luck to all the IMAC teams in the region tournament.

West played very well and exploited a ton of mis-matches on Cocke County.

Cocke County had the better match-up overall, but some of the assignments were questionable, I thought. West's speed also allowed them to get past the guards and to the hoop.

Cocke County's offense was vanilla, with little attacking the basket and it showed in the second half as CC settled for jumpers and West attacked the hoop (and hit about every 3 they shot, without anyone in their face).

West outscored CC 34-23 in the second half.

CC (and Cherokee) may have caught the break though with DB upsetting TN High and Science Hill beating Sullivan South.

Two great ballgames tonight at Hal-Henard!!! I told one of my buddies that Morristown West may be the sleeper team this season and the District Tournament suprise and so far that has proved true this post-season!! The championship game should be a "barn burner" lol...You almost have to give the Lady Devils the upper hand in this one though. Homecourt advantage and having several players who are used to winning the big games could be hard for West to overcome, but on the same note-West has had Greeneville's number all year!!! The lady trojans have been the only bunch who have seemed to have had an answer for the devils and both times that these teams have met have been very intense, close games. I am sure this one will be the same and to be quite honest I am having trouble deciding who I think will take home the title!?!?! Galyon is in my opinion the better coach but Crumbley has plenty of talent on the floor and has made improvements in her coaching over the past few seasons...this one is a toss up!! Good luck to both sides!!! I am looking forward to seeing who wins it!

See the above post.

The #1 seed from District 1 will become either the 3 or 4 in the Regional tourney and play District 2's 1 or 2 seed.

That will put District 1's current 2 and 4 hosting the teams that will come out of District 2's consolation game.

It may not be much of a break, as all four of the Big 9's teams that are in the regional are similiar, but I would think both coaches would prefer to avoid playing the first place regular season finisher on their home court in an elimination game.

In theory this may be correct. But theory would not have a 6th seed hosting a regional game. Thus the old saying "That's why we play the game".

Many things coming into play. Greeneville has a deeper bench. Galyon has shown why he is the coach of the year with a win like tonight. He had to rely on his first five and only one healthy player on the bench. It looks like the MVP will be down to Dixon and Smith. In their last match up Smith scored 21 and held Dixon to 13. This conference has some very talented underclassmen that are bringing promise to the next two or three years of some very good ball. Both times West and Greeneville have played this year, it as been a 4 point game. I don't expect to see a 4 point game on Monday night.
