If Maryville Goes 60-0 in DI 5A

Playing within the rules that exist is not diabolical and it's not up to Maryville, Alcoa or any other open zoned public school to fix the problem. The governing body should fix it.

It's not difficult to see how an open zoned school could benefit. 3 or 4 players could make a world of difference. Magnet schools potentially have the same advantage.

If Maryville goes 60-0 in 5A, or even just 15-0 their first year, then I expect to hear about how they never play any quality out of state competition. Riverdale used to get beat up for that all the time on these boards. No matter how well the Rebels do, someone will think they should have done it differently.

Most folks will recognize what an accomplishment it is and give the Rebels their proper respect, but some won't - and without those these boards would get boring pretty quickly /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

As for me, I hope the Rebels go 14-1 with the loss being to Riverdale in the BCB.

So , In other words you think there's a big " Coward Conspiracy " going on at Maryville . The coaches and administrators at Maryville high are evil and diabolical and are the only thing standing between your school ( Knoxville Central high school ) winning in 4A every year ? Interesting theory there Redandblack63 .

Since you're brave enough to make these accusations in a public forum against real , live people , why don't you let us all know who you are and what proof you have of this diabolical , evil , conspiracy going on at Maryville high school ? There's nothing sadder or more pathetic than a grown man trying to invent excuses for their team getting beat . For Central's sake , I sure do hope that you're not very influential at your school .

Pepvol:

Your reading comprehension is poor. I never mentioned a conspiracy. Never mentioned Maryville was a coward. I am of the opinion that if Maryville felt like they could compete and win championships in 5-A they would have already made the move since their enrollment would dictate.

My point is this. The T$$AA. needs to to address public schools that accept tuition students. I am of the opinion that the fair thing to do would be to apply the multiplier to their enrollment or put them in Division II. Not just Maryville but Alcoa and any other school that accepts tuition students.

As far as Maryville being in Centrals way of winning State Championships, They are one of many schools in our way. We didn't even make the Playoffs this year. Also our inability to win state championships started way before we started playing Maryville.

As far a sad and pathetic. Putting words into someone's mouth to make your case is about as sad and pathetic as it gets.

Pepvol, Chuck still has a mad-on about Burnette moving to Maryville.

It is obvious Mr. and Mrs. Burnette made the correct call by moving to Maryville. 60-0, 4 GOLD balls, 4 rings, a good ecducation, and a lifetime of memories. The way ole Shep had Halls going at the time, who can blame a parent for trying to find the best for their children. Running the Winged-T is not Brent's forte. Passing the football is Brent's strength and I heard a few years ago that Shep believed more in passing gas than footballs. I have yet to read redandblack63 blasting Blake Gildner on his transfer from Halls to Fulton. Interesting.

Kevin has Halls on the way back, but that was not the case a few years ago, at least from the Halls people I know.

Maryville plays completely with the rules of the TSSAA and redandblack63 could use his time more wisely contacting Uncle Ronnie in Nasville, than giving his qualified congratulations on every Maryville football thread.

I still want to know if they could have moved up if they wanted to before the start of the school year. I've searched the T$$AA website everywhere I know to look, and I can't find a piece of guidance that says teams can voluntarily move up between the second and third years of the four year period.

I don't know Solly. If only one jumped it could sure make for some scheduling problems, I mean all the region 4A teams would lose the big Maryville gate and it cause other region members to adjust schedules accordingly and play weaker teams (Can you only schedule the Gibbs Bros once in a season?). I'm ready to move...but I will miss hearing the whiners..... /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

To the educated and intelligent people on this board my point is clear. This is not just a Maryville issue. This is an issue that involves all schools who are public but take tuition students. Semi Private you might say. I contend they should be placed under the same rules as the private schools. Either apply the multiplier or play D II.

I think if Maryville thought they could win Gold balls in 5-A they would move up.

As far as some of the other meaningless rants they don't deserve a response.

And just to shut redandblack and his 5A talkup (thank God for Excel).

From http://www.tssaa.org/Classifications/e2007...enrollments.htm

According to this, there were 298 schools that were Division 1 football when the classes were alligned in 2004. Where you download that site into excel, sort by schools in existance at the time that played football, then sorted by 2004 student population, MARYVILLE IS THE SECOND LARGEST 4A SCHOOL IN THE STATE. No if, and, or buts about it, Maryville was a 4A school.

Now, unless you can find me where they could voluntarily move up to 5a halfway in the classification period, then please be quiet.

And some fun facts and figures, sorted by FB playing schools on 2004 enrollment.:

To the educated and intelligent people on this board my point is clear. This is not just a Maryville issue. This is an issue that involves all schools who are public but take tuition students.

As far as some of the other meaningless rants they don't deserve a response.

Do tell redandblack63. I have searched other threads involving teams that take tuition kids ie. Alcoa, Oak Ridge, Kingsport, Cleveland, Oneida etc. and I have not found one post from you complaining about their admittance practices. Solly has put down the numbers for the 2004 classification count. Maryville is a large 4A school.

So until I and others see you tackling this issue on other threads about other schools and school systems and how unfair it is because they play under the same umbrella Maryville does........Well we will just continue to think of you as a 3-4A whipping boy with a mouthful of sour grapes and an inordinant number of large L's burned into your jealous, bitter hind end.

Put a little of that in your 'qualified' smoke and pipe it.

Is Burnette a tuition student? I saw him play in both last year and in this years championship games and he is as pure a quarterback as I've seen. So if he is a tuition student maryville football greatly benefitted by accepting tuition students. On another note, I was introduced to Burnette and Douglas at the Mr. Football banquet after they were presented their respective award. It was a pleasure meeting them. Both were gentlemen and very humble!
