1A State Poll

Not that it really matters this time of the year, but how is it that the Pirates are not ranked #1 in the first poll of the year. I am not taking anything away from Trousdale because they are a great team, just wanted to get all the Coach T'ers opinions!!

I think it's the "old rule" of everyone wants to see a team that's not a powerhouse "rise" to power. Then when it happens & said team has been a force for a while then everyone want to knock them back down & pull for someone else. JMO.

I just saw the AP pole and couldnt believe it...SP dominated last year and is on pace to do the same this year. It just goes to show you how much partiality is shown in polls.

Trousdale played SP closer than any other 1A team last year and they only lost one or two starters. SP lost more starters than that. That is why TC is #1.

Polls are really useless when you think about it. It justs gives people something to stew over. I'm curious myself however why SP wasn't number 1. After the year they had last year and the fact they didn't lose many players. Trousdale County seems to always get the benefit of the doubt wjen they have a good team. Could have something to do with the fact that they are a Middle Tennessee team.

Polls are nothing more than expectations, what matters is results. UT WAS ranked #18 now #32. Let the season roll a few more weeks then the polls may mean something. Play 'em 1 week at a time & see what happens.

The reason TC is number 1 is because at the time of voting they had played one more Game than Spitt... I for one like it better at this time of year at #2 takes that target off our back... and congrats to Mcminn central the #3 AAA team of the year so far.... says alot about Spitt also....

I'm not sure that I would want my team on top even if I was thrashing everybody. I say its a lot easier to play without the pressure of being on top and all the expectations that come with that kind of ranking.

SP 42- Hampton 28

 

Hampton had the closer game last year, but this poll is about this year.

TC lost only 1 or 2 starters. IMO they are the best team, but we won't find out for sure until the quarterfinals.
