I have a cousin around the athens area of georgia. The football is a different game down there. They have alot more players that recieve big rides. Can anybody name somebody besides Phillips that has had a D1 ride out of the MLC or Five Rivers in the last five years

A D-lineman from West went to Alabama a few years ago and one from East went to UT. Knight from East signed with ole miss before this season. That is the ones that come to mind and I am sure there are more.

That is a very true statement...I don't think I can side agianst you on that one. We're kinda off topic though, but so is this. Question for the South faithful and followers of their rising star; what is the predicted situatioin for Mr.Phillips up in Madison over the next season or so? I though I caught wind that the QB race was not going quite as they expected it to. Any chance he can enter into that race before the end of the season?

Curt is doing well in Madison. He is red-shirting this year since WI has 5 quarterbacks. Hopes to be in the mix next year.

The last one I can think of is Jason Witten to UT from Elizabethton in 2000.

Brandon Fanney from Morristown West is the Alabama player. Roll Tide! Just kidding my wife is an Alabama fan, I have to say that or she might divorce me.

Charlie, are you majoring in coacht this semester? Don't post before 11:00 in the morning because that is when noonesfool gets out of bed now.

Haha...CoachT is my anger management because having Chem and Biology in the same semester BLOWS!!! This whole "actually having to study" thing is really getting in the way of whats important, like; NCAA 09', food, girls, sleep, and watching College Gameday. It seriously is weird having academics as a first priority instead of sports though, and I'm sure that NoOnesFool has had a recent shift in priorities as well, haha. But seriously...after 30 some odd years of putting up with punks like me and you can you blame him? I mean seriously?

And Barb don't act like you wouldn't enjoy a good round of kum-bay-yah,LoL, i know your not nearly as mean as you like to try to make yourself out to be you football deciphering guru you. haha

Brandon 'Pee Wee' Fanney is a starting defensive end for Alabama this season. I'm glad to see him getting a chance after working his tail off the last couple of years after a year at Hargrave. Fanney had eight tackles and a sack against Tulane last Saturday, and he was all around the ball against Clemson. He's turned into a fantastic player that is representing Morristown West well.

I don't know much about the west player, but somebody said he was starting at bama so thats cool. The one from East that went to Ut either quit or didnt make it. I played against him and talked to him at some camps, but i can't remember his name

From Tri-Cities Sports , looks like South may have a few next year...

RECRUITING THE REBELS ??“ Several Sullivan South players have the eye of college recruiters.

Left guard Hunter Beedle continues to receive attention from several schools including Middle Tennessee State, where he took an unofficial visit last weekend and witnessed the Blue Raiders??™ upset of ACC-foe Maryland.

MTSU has also shown interest in Kitzmiller, who got to catch passes at a Blue Raider camp from quarterback Bradley Davenport.

Speaking of Davenport, he??™s receiving calls from Virginia Tech, West Virginia and Louisville.

???A coach from the Tennessee staff also called and talked to my dad a couple of weeks ago,??? said Davenport.

Curiously, all is quiet regarding running back Taylor Fletcher??¦for now.

???Fletcher has really worked hard on his speed since last season,??? said Carter. ???You can see he??™s got an extra little burst he didn??™t have last year.???

With 357 yards and four touchdowns in two games, Fletcher won??™t be under the recruiting radar for long.

OMG Virginia Tech; Tennessee /ohmy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":o" border="0" alt="ohmy.gif" /> ??????!!!!!!!!! Don??™t you think that??™s stretchin it a little bit? I wish you guys would quit with these ridiculous claims about Davenport! He has enough trouble getting the respect he??™s due without you raising his ???bar??? through the roof. He??™s a good athlete and has a good chance to go to the next level??¦but I can assure you that it won??™t be at any of the schools you mentioned. Not on scholarship anyway. I mean that with all due respect to the kid because like a said; he is a good athlete and is possibly the best QB in the conference this year.

    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
