well we have the best O line since 06 imo and 2 all state linebackers and a good amount of experienced players at about every position on both sides of the ball....south's 2 biggest problems are our DB's and the chemistry with the QB and WR which i'm sure stacy and jerry will have them ready to go by week 0

and our running game should be really strong this year

how much bigger has sheppard got over the off season?

Not sure about how much bigger, but he's smoking when he turns on the jets. Speed has increased if that was possible.

How did South do in their 7 on 7 ?

Second Hand: Much better than yesterday, which is a relief. East and Central similar in speed, skill, etc.

South looked a little more polished than those two.

To reach the lofty heights, they need to be a LOT more polished.

how did both the QB's look?

Confirmation of what I and others have posted here. Heath throws a better looking ball. I also hear he is the better runner/scrambler.

The St. looks the part. His field presence and Heath's fragility will keep him the #1 man.

I'm betting St. takes the first Week 0 snap, but the real O leader will not be decided by then.

I think the worst part of this is the WR's. Worst case scenario is they won't mesh with either QB for trying to mesh with both...and each having different approaches will constantly confuse the WR's. I said early that Stacy would use both but I see now that that will not be a good thing. It's still early. Bradley didn't really come together until Science Hill. That's why Taylor had 29 carries. If you remember, the next week Bradley put on a show. You have to have faith that Stacy will pull it together and it will work. The fall scrimmages will tell a tale.

  • 2 weeks later...

I spoke to a young fast WR's Father today and he says that with Heath being gone that our WR's are fast enough to break a fly pattern at any given moment but that we can't get the ball to them. He says they have to come back for the ball. I haven't seen it so I don't know. I do know one thing...the St. knows Stacy's O as well as Curt. And he has the processor to make split second decisions. And I thoroughly believe in him. But can somebody please help him correct what he is doing wrong when he throws the ball. I was no QB so I don't understand the mechanics. He gets that corrected...we are in the drivers seat.

    • What you are saying is true about high school athletics being a privilege and not a right, but NO ONE ever knows what will happen if a case goes before a jury.  Again, I have been in a couple of jury rooms and it's always a little crazy.  That is why my prediction is you will see a settlement before the case goes to trial.
    • What rules does everyone not operate by?
    • So you want a have and have not split? Sound like the perfect ramp to elitism. Tell those rural kids that they'll never be able to compete with those urban kids. They're not good enough right? Or we could just do what travel baseball does and have tournaments every weekend and give kids big fake rings for winning a few games. The suburban public schools are typically the ones with more funds. Urban and rural schools have more in common in finances than they do with rural schools. I've taught and coached in all of it. The difference is attitude. But if you're jsut going to say you can't compete because you don't have the money then that's an excuse. Especially in basketball. The balls are the same size, the rims are the same height and size. The ball dribbles the same in some rural gym in mountains as it does in the FedEx forum. Charters come and go like a fart in the wind. They are no real threat to anyone. Magnets could be but rarely do they win either. It just hasn't been seen in Tennessee.
    • That’s a good line. Wins would be Soddy, Howard, and Ooltewah. Maybe East Ham again or Knox Central. Tyner maybe but being that late in the year it’s hard to say. I don’t think we get by Red Bank this year.    Rhea could be anywhere from 2-8 to 6-4.
    • I agree with the Farragut and Bradley claim. Those will both be wins. Bearden like you say is depending on when you get them in comparison to when the wheels fall off.  As far as West goes I’m 50-50. They have been able to reload so far so until they show me they haven’t I can’t count them out.
