Underrated Coaches

I'll give you an over rated one, is young Cisco from union city. If any of you can recall, when he first came to union city he was a par coach and had a few average season's. Not until his father came around did he actually start winning and winning big. He's an average coach don't get me wrong but he gets all of his fathers credit /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />. Anyone from union city knows it's true if you will admit it or not.

So what you are saying is that dad won the state last year? So what was he doing looking back to see what play dad wanted to call next? /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

David Baumann ... William Blount High School. Lost 7-8 seniors off of last year's team. Started 4 juniors all season. Only 3 seniors on team ... only 2 of them played significant minutes. No one over 6'3" on roster. Only had 2 letterman return from last year's team ... only one of those really played significant minutes. Plays in one of the toughest regions around--with Bearden, Maryville, Farragut, Lenoir City, etc.

Still managed to win 15 ballgames this season. The improvement of this team from summer till end of season was absolutely remarkable. David put a good system in place--based on the personel he had--and got the guys to buy in. That's a mark of good coaching. If the guys will continue to buy in and spend the off season in the weight room ... WB can be pretty decent next season.

i think that derek wallace at AC deserves some consideration. he has done a great job since the departure of mark eldridge to maryville. in three years, he has led the mavs to two district titles and almost pulled off a monumental upset against the defending state champs (fulton) in this years region tourney.

i also put Chris Kessler in the mix. He took a team in Knox West that won 2 games in the previous year finishing dead last in the district and then in one year they win 15 games and place 4th in the district and with only one senior.

I agree here as well.. Coach K. did a good job with a very young team. I think next year it will be West and Central battling for the top spot in th district.

Young man from Gatlinburg Pittman has done a darn good job. Tied for 1st in the district in his first year and then played in the district championship this past year. Took over a program that was rich in tradition in the late 90's and early 2000's led by Ken Wright (now at Sevier County) but had only won about 20 games from 2002-2006.

CoachT information states they have been 15-10 and 17- 10 in his first two seasons. How old is this young coach?

Not next year. West was moved to 4AAA where they will do battle with Bearden, Catholic, Farragut, Heritage, Lenoir City, Maryville and William Blount.

    • Eagleville hosting shows laziness on the part of the TSSAA and a complete disregard for the appearance of impartiality. Absolutely nothing against EHS. Its not their fault TSSAA is lazy.    I understand EHS staff work the games at Eagleville, and they don’t want to miss the EHS games. However this isn’t rocket science. It would take less than 1 hour to cross-train EHS and RHS volunteers at the opposite sites. If Eagleville (or any host)  makes the tournament, flip their game site and have the volunteers flip sites for the days their school plays at the opposite site. Magically the school’s fans would be present to watch the their kids play and the kids at least lose some familiarity and home field advantage.  It takes almost no effort and is a ~15 minute extra drive.
    • We feel the pain!
    • Jason Lambert should be the only choice for the Baseball coaching position.
    • From the stats I found online it looks like Gabe Eddington- .484, 44 total hits, 43 runs scored and 42 stolen bases.Meanwhile, on the mound, the Austin Peay commit had a record of 8-2, while compiling 50 innings pitched with an ERA of 1.82. Carson Parrott - 7-0 overall as a starting pitcher with a 1.41 ERA, 95 strikeouts and a save in 53 and 1/3 innings pitched. Parrott hit .392 with 3 home runs, 21 RBIs with a .566 OBP and .716 SLG. Jaxon Walker - .454, 53 hits, 38 RBI’s, 9 HRs.   Not saying the other three aren’t deserving but Quillen had better BA than all three and was just as dominate pitching.  Like I said I don’t know how you leave off the 3a Baseball player of the year last year when he put up better numbers.  I know Greeneville’s Coach wasn’t happy about it saying “I don’t give a s*** what anybody else says. That kid is the best player in Tennessee, and everybody else on our team rises to his level“.  I’m sure winning another State Championship as a junior is more important to Carson than the individual award, it’s just a head scratcher to not be nominated
