Hoping my boys for polk come home friday night 9-0. The wildcats have the team to do it but the o line is going to have to step it up because if they do what they did tonight against south pitt we could be in for a long night. I'm sure coach davis will have them ready and can't wait to be heading back up the interstate 9 and 0. GO Wildcats

In my on opinion....Polk is in for a long game....I mean they are a good football team but let me just tell yall.....They have not faced a team like SP all year I can promise ya!! They will not run the ball on us....people have tried and all have failed...our defense is just to fast....just stating the facts...and good luck trying to stop our offense...can not wait to give you guys your first loss :roflol: Might want to check back and forth on our 1a thread to because I do not know if some people would think about coming to the 3A one....but like I said early prediction SP wins by at least 3 touchdowns....This is a statement game for SP going into the playoffs sent to the rest of 1A :D

Not being familiar with Polk, I did some digging ( no, not in my Murphy Fair book, LOL ). Polk

has only beaten 2 teams with a winning record. Won/Loss record looks great on paper, 8-0,

but appears to be misleading. Been wrong before many times, but now that SP has all its'

horses back in the harness, gotta go with the Pirates on this one. A miscue here & there...

could turn out to be a game...but not likely.

Old Pirate says this will be a war between a bunch of good ole country boys. Polk will hav size and and numbers with SP attempting to make a statement while playing another quality team in a larger classification. The Pirates will be challanged and their defense will need to continue to attack while wrapping up on tackles. The Polk defense will be challanged more than they have this season with SP having several weapons that can make a long nite. The SP offense is slowed with a few starters still missing but with a healthy T. Rob will give the Wildcats fits. The Polk offense will have some players that will be work horses and most like show SP they are not jest a bunch of slow plow horses. The kicking game could provide some interesting matchups.

OP says SP should score at least 4 times and for Polk to win they will need to keep pace with the Pirates. This will be full of plenty of ear holing and should provide a full house.

In my opinion, this will be the last tough game for SP. I don't think anyone in 1A will be able to handle the Pirates in the playoffs....but with that said they can't take anyone lightly. I think Polk has a good team and is well coached, but I just don't think they have seen the speed the Pirates possess. The Pirates are playing at championship level and the Wildcats will have to play their best game of the year to have any chance at winning. Just as I said in the Boyd thread, the only chance I see Polk having in this game is if Terrell is not playing.

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
