StevieRayVol
If that's the case then Henry County brought approximately 6000 fans. That's just an incredibly insane number for a school that far away. You'd be surprised at the number of fans who came from Dyersburg to follow Henry County. Coach Counce and Counce Jr. have a lot of friends and fans down here who wanted them to win a State title.
duckman38201
Congrats to the Patriots on your big win last night from Rebel Nation here in McKenzie. reckon there were a few from here that came to the game too. Actually to the last three games of ya'lls. I spent the whole game on the edge of my recliner seat watching myself. Enjoy it, ya'll earned it!!!! Kevin38
Thank you so, so much! I was going to worry about this from now on. It was an impossible call live. I've asked at least a dozen people what they thought. All but one said they thought he scored. This image ends all doubt. I can't commend you enough. Yeah you cant argue w/ that picture, while watching it live I thought he scored as well. They even did a replay in slow motion and it looked like he scored there as well. They didnt show it in as good of an angle as shown in this pic. This clearly shows knee down and ball short of goal line, well done..... Drewcephus
You HC boys get ready to get whooped all over the field tonight. EAST TN where real football is played. LETS GET IT ON Well, great game. But I guess we know how to play a little football out west too.
RedSwarm10
Well, great game. But I guess we know how to play a little football out west too. There is great football played all over this state every year...From Bristol to Memphis and everywhere in between. Programs like Maryville and Alcoa and the 100 state titles they have between them is what tilts the favoritism so heavily towards the east. But, just like everyone, they are not unbeatable (although Maryville is pretty dang close). It was nice to see us bring one home for the west. But most importantly, it just feels good to FINALLY have a gold ball in Paris. And the buck doesn't stop here, there's still plenty of room for some more. I was at the game and unsure at the time due to the fact I was sitting on the 40yd line and had a terrible angle. I recorded the game and played it back when I got home. This is the same TSSAA network televised version that everyone else saw.
FootballDad
First, congrats to BOTH teams for a fantastic game!! One of the best games I've ever watched, certainly at the high school level. These 2 teams were so evenly matched and they battled it out like a slug fest in a heavy weight championship match. My heart was left on the field for the Panthers. I hurt to see the boys hurt so bad after such an incredible season. Hopefully after a little time the Powell players will understand how much they accomplished over the past couple seasons. Great job Panthers, hold your head high, you did the community proud

Well laugh away, I didnt remember seeing it at that angle and on the replay they just showed it from behind him which was hard to tell. I didnt rewind and go back and analyze like they do when watching NFL. Even if they had scored it doesnt mean they would have won..... Congrats to Henry Co. and Wayne Co. for bringing Gold back to the west half of the state and to the others on the west end that got to the show. I'll even throw in St. George's for their Gold Ball over USJ in Div.II! Edited December 5, 2011 by duckman38201
Free2speak
THIS IS NOT A TOUCHDOWN GOOD CALL BY THE REFS I thought the officiating during the game was good. The televising of it was a different story. To me and several others that I spoke with agreed that it seemed more favorable towards Powell. Constantly showed shots of their crowds, shots of their team, shots of their coaches, band, cheerleaders...etc. The broadcasters messed our names up and whined about our noise. The Patriots were the real underdogs up to the last minute. Congrats Patriots, You deserve the Gold!
