Yea right, maybe if the entire population of Summertown enrolled in high school. lol. I know they are 1A in all other sports, so I am pretty sure they would be 1A in football. But they might be right on the bubble of 2A. I am so glad that Summertown finally got a football team. I've never understood why they didn't have one, especially since they are so competitive in every other sport they compete in.

Yeah lol I know I just said that because someone said they would be 3A. S'town has a lot of big kids over there but it'll take time to get the experience to compete in the region.

Yea they do have some big ol boys. Raised on the farm and will make good linemen. I was just looking at the TSSAA enrollment for T.N High Schools for 2012. And it shows that Stown has 367 students in H.S. also it shows that Richland has 307 and Mt. Pleasant has 384, which is not big enough to be 2A. I dont understand why Richland and Mt. P are competing in 2A in football. Why make things more difficult? Here is the link to that page http://tssaa.org/Classifications/classification.cfm

We all may be jumping the gun thinking Summertown is going to have a High Scool program.... I just read a local paper here in town called the Mt. Pleasant Review and it only talked about a Junior High program with a group pic of just a bunch of youngsters.... maybe this will progress on into a High School program, maybe not? Any one talk with any one associated with S. H. S. To know for sure it's going to be in High School as well???

They had a middle school team this year and are going to let it move into high school.

    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
