why doesnt maryville play out of state games?

The last TD was scored on seconds so it was 60 to 34. I would call that no problem. Maryville could have put 2 to 3 additional scores up in the 4th but called the dogs off. Yeah.... I would consider that a no problem.

 

giving up 34pts is no problem? Sounds like there are still some issues at least on D. I mean come on. It's not like I'm claiming Farragut should have won or anything. When your first team defense gives up 34 points to an average offense, there are problems there. That's just common sense.

Now don't try to spin this into a thread victory. Defense giving up 34.....problem. Farragut....no problem. Just be happy GQ took his foot off the gas and pulled the ones for the 4th quarter. It could have been a blowout of epic portions at 81 to 34 and that was realistic.

Unfortunately I grew up on a farm in the country and had to eat oodles of noodles, beans and canned tuna all the way thru college on a puny athletic scholarship .....so I can't really relate .. Just have a great calculator on my iPhone ..

On the offensive side the Rebels had control of the game, but does it not concern anyone that Maryville was playing its starting QB on defense late in the 2nd and 3rd Quarter?

I guess I trust Quarles to know what he's doing ....

 

It definitely shut down that corner of the field. I believe Myers went in on D when it was 24-21 about five minutes left in the 2nd Quarter. I just hate that we had to risk an injury to a key player. I honestly have deep concerns about the offense if we lost Myers at QB.

      RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.

      I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"

      Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
