This Webb team has a LONG way to go before they can expect to compete with the other top 2-3 schools in DII-A. For whatever reason, they seemed to lack emotion last night with the exception of one or two players.

 

Webb pretty much was dominated on both lines of scrimmage last night. Outside LBs were out of position far too often and lacked speed. DEs were ineffective at containing Maryville's QBs from getting to the edge and seemed lost in what their assignment was supposed to be in defending the zone read. Webb will need to find another RB that can pose a threat with speed to the outside via pitches and sweeps besides Kelly. It looked like Maryville assigned one or possibly two LBs to Kelly until it was clear he didn't have the ball.

 

Not a very good effort for this ex-spartan to watch last night. Maryville is a very good team now and will no doubt get even better throughout the year. Just hope Webb can do the same.

Pretty sure fatigue from playing on both sides of the ball had nothing to do with MHS having a 21-0 lead at the half...if those kids are fatigued in the first half there are obviously strengh and conditioning issues that need to be addressed......

IMO: two good teams; webb front seven did great; needed a safety up to help with qb; webb got tired and murvil took advantage at end of half; murvil qb played really well; #82 for murvil had some big stops; no injuries is always good
