I sure hope Coach Rankin is willing to help Coach Quarles figure out this big bad 7AAA team and the only way we can get a win is if Shad will choke.  :rolleyes:

I think it's funny that ya'll are making comments about the coach choking.....mainly because I'm pretty sure Shad knows what he's doing and secondly he can coach the boys all day long, BUT if THEY choke then the game is lost.....Coaches in general can scream, talk, beg, cry, inspire, whatever, but at the end of the day that's all they can do. Short of strapping up himself, a coach can only do so much, after that it's up to the boys to do their job.

Blackman friends, you are in for a treat this Friday - Maryville is a fun place to travel to and play at.  Awesome environment! They have put in turf since I got to make the last couple of trips.  StarsandBars and my other Maryville friends will treat you well!  Stork - if you go to the pressbox, the last step will get ya B) if you aren't careful.  But with a name like Stork your legs should be able to make that last step up. 

 

Everyone be safe!  Should be a fun night of great high school football!  I know one of them will be making the trip to Cookeville and will well-represent Tennessee High School football.

So their football field is turf?

 Just like with Stork montgomery , now you're jumping to the wrong conclusion with us . Nobody is calling your Coach a choker , it was just a friendly little tease about all the Dominant 7AAA talk we hear every year .... as if that would be the only way we would have a chance ?? Seriously man , your vertical leap must be amazing because you Jump to a Conclusion pretty quick .

I remember a couple or three years ago I thought the same about the team coming out of the east. Then the Rebels ran into a freaky talented White Station team. Lo and behold there they are again on the other side of the bracket.

That is a very good point. I still have to believe that this year's Maryville team is stronger than the 2009 team though. I may be wrong, but I would be extremely surprised if the winner of this game doesn't win the title.

We in Rutherford County like to think of District 7-AAA as the SEC of Tennessee high school football. And it likely is. Put any team in the state (including perennial power Maryville) in this league and see how it does year to year.

 

Sure, George Quarles’ squad may still win as many championships.

 

But then the Maryville faithful will understand the path it takes to get to Cookeville.

 

However, it has been since 2008 since a Rutherford County won a state football championship.

 

That drought looms over those remaining in the playoffs from the county.

      Gravedigger gotta finish filling the hole before hitting 40 East. May need a new Yellow Shirt play signaler on the Stones. And apparently a new strength coach now. Cicadas must've got shaken out of the bushes in Donelson. Hopefully the mower man sticks around to keep DG field looking pristine.
