Early predictions for 8-AA 2014

Recommended Posts

Good conversation topic, I have thought about this before and would say most years would be a yes.

That's my thoughts as well. Some years would be absolutely loaded like last year, some years would be a little more down but still a very very good team none the less.

It's good to dream, but that's what that is exactly a dream. I guess on any given day anything is possible.

I specifically said "I know this is silly", no need to pee on our parade, dingus.

If 8aa had a powerhouse school that all the top talent in the area wanted to go to, I'd wager that the team would be going to the semis every year in 3a. Probably 4a too, but that would be a little tougher top to bottom. I'd also wager that the 8aa dream team could beat Alcoa some years, with the proper coaches. It would be interesting to see no doubt.

Let me toss this this one out and see what some thoughts are. I know almost everyone saw the LA 2012 team. Some once, twice (DeKalb)possibly three times if you watched us play Fulton. If you take that team and plug in, you name your players here, just a few of the best remaining players in the district so we don't have 70% of our players going both ways. Keep in mind at half time LA was leading with no fluke plays and Fulton was mouthing at each other and heads down at the break. It is my opinion that with a majority of players going only one way LA not only wins that game but the state. I also believe the 2012 Fulton team (could) have beat Maryville, Alcoa or Ensworth that year. Great topic. This years team would have an unbelievable amount of skill players but might struggle at the line of scrimmage but I haven't see Fulton yet.

    • And that needs to go, Charter ,private ,magnet, city and any school that operates differently than pure public schools should be separated. What really needs to be done is address urban and rural. About all the usual powers have access to several kids from other schools period.
    • Sad deal. Hate it. So the coach that kicked her off is now fired??
    • Slightly off topic from a gender standpoint but just observed several boys volleyball games in the Knoxville area for a short spring season. The guys seemed to have a great time. There were several club players on each team but several football, basketball and tennis players involved. Knoxville Catholic, Maryville, Heritage, Knoxville West maybe William Blount had teams. Thanks to Coach Brent Carter from Knoxville Catholic/K2 for getting it together. I’m sure the coaches involved got several laughs trying to coach guys that really had no idea what they were talking about but pretty athletic and competitive. Catholic’s best basketball player told the coach he had played a lot of 2:3 and 1:3:1 but never a 3:3 LOL Maybe it will catch on with some more schools next year.
