TCA returns 9 starters on offense including all skill players but one and returns 9 players on defense. Losing their MLB will be big. Offense should be better than ever but MUST get better on defense if they want to get to Cookeville. Defensive line is where most improvement is needed. If they hope to compete with Trousdale they have to get stronger and more physical. Adamsville , Huntington and Trenton Peabody will be main hurdles to get past if they hope to get to Cookeville. 2014 will be the year if TCA is going to do it. They will be really good in 2015 but not quite as talented as 2014.

TCA is my pick out of the west in 2014

Got caught up in the playoffs Intense, so congrat's on a great season albeit a little late. Next year is the year that the road to Cookevegas goes through Jackson...not saying that Peabody, Mitchell, Huntingdon, and especially Adamsville won't be high hurdles, but they've got their work cut out  in order to outscore your Lions. The talent is there for the defense to be adequate if not great, just have to get gelled into one unit instead of 11 players, and they shouldn't have to get too many stops in order to get the job done either. Good luck on the hardwood too...love to see any game played with precision and y'all do it very well!

Thanks Trader! We definitely have to get meaner in defense! lol. I look forward to seeing Scott's Hill on the hardwood as well. They always play hard and have had some really good teams in the past. I really like what your FB coach is doing as well. I think he is building a good program. Probably needs two more years.

I hate to sound like "that guy" who is always crowing about what will happen down the road...here goes anyway. Coach Stroup has the program on track, numbers rising, facilities improving, morale way up, and the intangibles...pride, respect, and selflessness are showing in the kids. Two years would be great, but we'll get there eventually...lot's of barriers to be broken before we get on par with most of 15A (tough to improve your record in this dist.), but thanks for noticing. Talent way down on the 'wood this year, but coaching is way up...I'll take it.

Congratulations to Kyle Akin, James Bond, Eli Parker and Andrew Goldsmith for a great showing at the r i Vals.com/Under Armour invitation camp in Hattiesburg. All four competed well and made TCA proud. They are headed to Birmingham for the Nike Invitation camp today. All four are starting to be pretty heavily recruited. Can't wait to see them in the Fall. Goldsmith has turned into a beast. Going to be hard to tackle him this coming year!

    • Did this happen? Does anyone know? Ripley has their HC job posted on the bulletin board over the weekend.
    • Coalfield definitely isn't the same team they've had the past few years. They are still the favorites to make it out of their region because of their pitching. They have 1 arm that sits low to mid 80s and 2 other arms that are mid to high 70s with good off speed stuff. If you can avoid their top 3 bats in their lineup then you have a shot to beat them. Their 4-9 hitters are average at best. Wartburg's ace was able to shut them down last week in the game Wartburg won 4-2.
    • It is the longest season. Plus, 30 games a year. No Christmas break. I would say basketball is the most time consuming.
    • No movement on Chester? South Gibson? Gibson County?
    • Winfree's senior year was the season she needed to secure more college interest. That opportunity was taken away from her. A lot of false assumptions can be made about what happened and what the options are. Unfortunately, the former coach and administration did not allow Winfree to have due process. A lawsuit was filed for a reason, and it will run its course by people who conduct discovery and take depositions. Unless the parties settle out of court, a lot of the pertinent issues will come to the public surface. I wrote about many of the issues here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/11/17/grounds-for-investigation-and-suspension/ I interviewed Winfree after she was dismissed from the team and wrote about it here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/12/01/a-new-interview-with-sable-winfree/ Winfree had been on teams in Warren County since the fourth grade and never been dismissed from a team. The real questions are why was Winfree dismissed from the team, and why the administration backed a coach whom they did not rehire.
