Coalfield fighting...say it ain't so lol lol. Let me guess it wasn't their fault lol

Not all is as appears and most of what you are reading above is incorrect. No a player did not go on the field after a heated exchange but yes a player threw a punch at an umpire after the game was over which is very unfortunate. Following the game the umps started to exit the field through the Coalfield dug out and there continued to be discussions over a bad call at home plate. There were several spectators that were voicing their opinions about the quality of umpiring during the game that was called and one of the umps hung around at the gate and very clearly told a parent to shut the **** up which just happened to be the mother of the player that threw the punch. The ump who was also a law enforcement agent also confronted another spectator (brother of player)and began to throw his weight around and tell brother he could take him to jail anywhere, anytime, for anything which provoked said player to defend his parent and sibling.

 

All of this could have been avoided if the umpire crew had just exited the field as usual and gone on their way but it seemed as if they were hanging around to provoke something. No it's not excusable one bit for any player to go after an umpire and he will pay the consequences but as an umpire and an adult you should not let the power get to your head either. During this entire episode the head coach is trying to get the ump to leave and even stands between the ump and angry crowd.

From the video that I saw it appeared that the ump was waiting on his partner more so than trying to argue. 1st rule in umping is you never leave the field without your partner, especially when a team is disputing a call or calls. The field ump appeared to be detained by a coach on the inside of the fence while the plate ump had made his way outside. The coach that was between the ump and the players obviously has no control over his team as they were all moving towards the ump. Fans were also getting involved and running their mouth. Sad day when the coaches have no control of their team and fans. Like the call or not, right call or not, it's over with and the thuggish actions by the coaches, players and fans of Coalfield were not going to change it. I agree that with Coalfield's history of altercations, the TSSAA should impose some harsh penalties on the school, even take away sports for a year or two. There is no place in high school sports for this kind of behavior.

I remember having to have a police escort lead our bus out of Coalfield and down to Oliver Springs when we played them. Fans throwing popcorn and cups onto our coaches and players as they exited the floor then banging on the locker room doors and opening it to yell into the locker room. No administrators to help.

  I used to be a fan of the Yellow Jackets, really enjoyed playing them,had some great games and never a bit of trouble. But I can't say I'm much of a fan these days.they have really got out of control over the past few years. Oneida and Geeenback are the teams I like these days,classey programs that play with pride. Looks like Coalfield needs to do ALOT of house cleaning. They need to retire from the fighting game because it seems as though they get a black eye every time they strap it up. I'm also sure they have several great kids, they just need some strong leaders with good values.

If it was one isolated incident that is one thing...but Coalfield is making a name for themselves, and it is not the name that you want.  How about some leadership!!!  you can't tell me these kids have got very much leadership from coaches, to be doing the things they are doing.

True, but it all starts at the homes of these kids. My dad would've had my a** if I had of acted that way growing up. Obviously they aren't having to be accountable to not only their coaches, but their parents as well. That's where it all starts. The mothers and fathers of these kids sure aren't setting good examples by acting like 13 and 14 year olds yelling at these umpires either. Some of these adults are as bad or worse then the kids. These types of people need to take a long hard look in the mirror because they are all over not just at Coalfield. Our society is littered with them. Get your priorities in line i say. It's a da** ballgame.

I agree 100%....Kids for the most part are just not raised at home anymore.  I originally had something about this in my original post, but edited out, because I figured there would be backlash and I didn't feel like dealing with it....
