Do privates pay more than public schools to be members?

Let's think about this with arbitrary numbers

If you have 500 total schools that have around same attendance, and 250 privates withdrawal you lose half gate revenue...(especially throughout playoffs) plus whatever membership dues are....Tssaa doesn't care about schools or sports they care about $$$$ and that's been shown over and over...

Goodpasture knows the lick its done by,they will recover anytime they choose to. I think they made a statement by firing the coach in midstream. Not a very classey thing, but one that says they want football back to where it once was. I'm sure the ball is already rolling and they will return to dominance in a HURRY. For private schools, its all about whatever mission they want to choose.

Better do some research there Monkey Wrench, half the schools aren't privates. There are 17 in A ball (A/AA football) playing in the public division. The large privates are fine where they are, and the small privates already in DII will benefit from the split (travel distances for playoff games will drastically be reduced). I'd be surprised if more than a small percentage of privates would consider leaving TSSAA, as startup cost would most affect those with the inclination to leave. Those who could best afford to participate in forming an independent league are those with nothing to gain from it.

If losing to RBS is hard to swallow, think of a schedule after this proposed reorganizing by the privates...DCA,FRA,Webb,FCA,ECS,BGA,FCS,ect...good luck with that.

Look up the definition of arbitrary, I used round numbers to make a point. Ok there are 17 in A ball, how many already in d2 that could pull out?

The Only reason the tssaa ever redoes the divisions / playoff systems is because they want to make more money. Don't think they'd want to potentially run off however many privates there are.

Perhaps the membership schools should nail the TSSAA in a class action law suite for being a "for profit" organization.

GP

2012

One of GP's star players is killed in a car accident before the season starts. Then as everyone knows more than a dozen players, most of them starters and upper classmen decide to do something that is legal in Colorado and California but illegal in TN. That decision leads to suspensions from school and multi game suspensions from the football team. At the end of the season a three time state championship winning coach leaves GP.

2013

Mote is hired as new coach. Before the season starts a star player is run over accidentally by one of his friends and teammates. He's paralyzed and wheel chair bound as a result of this accident. Many believed he was destined to play college baseball prior to the accident. The team goes on to qualify for the playoffs ultimately losing to the eventual state champion.

2014

Team starts season 0-7 losing it's 7th game to a historically losing program on Homecoming and fires their coach immediately following this loss. Although the team was riddled with injuries as a result of starting the season against either DII Privates or publics from larger classifications the loss against RBS was the last straw.

2015

This Senior class will graduate with the memory of one teammate dying, another teammate being paralyzed and having upper classmen set an example while they were Sophomore of breaking the law and choosing their selfish wants over the needs of the team.

I don't know what God has in store for these Seniors but you were delt a bad hand. I don't know if Gary Rankin,Ricky Bowers or Vince Lombardi could have made your Senior season any better. Perhaps, Mote could have gotten more out of this team but in some ways the dye was cast in 2012 when a bunch of "team leaders" chose to set a bad example instead of a good one and the class of 2015 is still paying for it.

Keep your heads up. Many of us see the totality of this situation. You probably don't want to hear this but the last three years for you have been character building. Hopefully, your parents have had words of encouragement for you with a similar theme. You've experienced things in a 3 year period some people don't experience in a lifetime.

The great thing about football is it makes you tough. Well, GP class of 2015 you guys are tough. You got there in an unconvential way but in your future lives it will serve you well.

God Bless.

My sincere apology for using reason in order to form my personal judgement. Not going to argue further, it's pointless to go back and forth on an issue that neither of us has control over, especially when reason and logic is countered with "facts" and scenarios manifested from thin air.

I hope Goodpasture pays attention to the talent pool of coaches and players they currently have in the middle school classes.  Simply hiring another coach who has no connection to the community (in the school already and the geographical community surrounding the school) will only be a temporary fix if the new football coach can't keep the talent in the lower grades from moving on to the Ensworths and BA's of the private school world.  Or attract some of the local athletes in the area who would and could help bring Goodpasture athletics back to life as a whole.

There is a multitude of talent in the Madison/Goodlettsville area that would consider a private Christian education if Goodpasture had some representation at head coach that had proven ties to the community.

Goodpasture's best choice at head coach is someone who knows the game and knows how to connect with Christian athletes.

.the whole point was, there are privates, and privates make the t$$aa money, so the t$$aa will not want to make them mad for potential pull out and loss of revenue.
