Blackman at Hoover

Hey Blackman fans,  I meant to get on this topic earlier.  My son played on several good Brentwood High teams and got the pleasure of chasing Itavious around so I have a lot of respect for the Blackman program.   My wife is a Presbyterian minister who serves a church in Tuscaloosa AL so I spend weekends in Tuscaloosa and I've gotten to see Hoover play several times.

WIth all due respect to Middle TN, they play a different level of high school football in Al.  Scary some times.    I think Tuscaloosa County alone had more Division 1 commits then the entire midstate are of TN.

Blackman showed they are for real and deserve to be considered up there with some of the best schools in the south.  Good luck in the playoffs.

I applaud Blackman for scheduling this game, but I think the outcome just reinforces my belief that Tennessee high school football is inferior to most, if not all, of the surrounding states. It only stands to reason that the best teams in states around us are going to be better than the best teams in Tennessee.

Going forward, I think Blackman can rest assured that they won't see anything remotely close to Hoover in the playoffs, except for possibly Maryville, Oakland, and Whitehaven.

Hoover is easily one of the best teams in the country, and definitely the surrounding states. And Blackman had it's chances to tie the game. The last TD Hoover had was at the very end to make it 35-20, thus making it not look as close. I think Blackman earned Hoover's respect last night. And they would still most definitely be a top team in any surrounding state. Tennessee isn't all that inferior as made to believe by some.

For what it's worth, per unapproved website national rankings (prior to last night's games):

Hoover:  115

Blackman:  56

Brentwood Academy:  27

Ensworth:  79

Looks like they got all of those wrong with respect to each other.  Point is, this is apparently not one of Hoover's better teams and we have teams right here in the mid-state (including Blackman, Oakland, Ensworth and BA) that are as well thought of, or better, than the Alabama teams.
