MARYVILLE 2015

Five of the six linemen were seniors last year and that's including the tight end. Ellis has done his best job it seems in the past when they lose a bunch like last year so it will be very interesting to see how things work out there. The defensive line lost two all stars but have a good defensive end back for his third year but it will also be very interesting how the rest of that group will look also. They did lose someone that had played a lot in the past that up and decided to quit school which was a little bit of a setback.

The rest of the team should be in good shape from what I have seen this spring. I don't know why I like this kid so much but number 47# is a hoss and looking so forward to seeing him carry the ball. It looks like a big bull coming down the field knocking everyone down that steps out in the way.

Maryville did lose a lot of starters on the OLine but I still think they are in great shape. Josh Wall,Harper Rose,Cam Malone and a few others got a lot of playing time.

I got the opportunity to watch Maryville in the last spring practice Thursday and saw a lot of good things and problems they need to work on but GQ is a smart man and he saw the same things. It's very hard to say a lot when you only scrimmage your own self and not allow the defense to lay the hammer down to get the real verdict. Don't need to go pick on the parts or players that made mental mistakes because that's what practice is for and our team does a great job of correcting those things. I will say from watching Maryville Football for many years the Hopkins kid reminds me so much of Tyler Vaughlt which is a good thing. Both are tall, great speed and good arms and very athletic. I watched him take the ball one time and completely turn around and throw it to the opposite side of the field with poise that only a true gifted QB can do. Can't wait til seven on seven starts up again so we can really see who is sharp and who is not and who loafed during the summer and who didn't. That was very obvious to a blind man last year.
