Lakelyn Bouldin Class A from Van Buren County High School.  Lakelyn is a 5'7 guard, junior,  who has just scored her 2000+ points in her high school career.  Her Stats for this season are:

2014-15 STATISTICS

Through first 24 games

Averaging a double-double

Leading scorer 23 of 24 games

Leading rebounder all 24 games

  • 555 Points scored
  • 23.1 Points per game
  • 9.9 Rebounds per game
  • 2.9 Assists per game
  • 2.3 Steals per game
  • 1.1 Turnovers per game
  • 83% Free Throws (107/128)
  • 48.8% 3-pointers
  • 60% Overall
  • 12 double-doubles
  • 1 triple double (17 pts, 15 reb. 10 assists)

Those are great stats and to think  Miss Bouldin has only played the 4th quarter in a handful of games because Van Buren has had such a big lead. So once you take that into account her stats are even more impressive.

In addition to her basketball, track, and GPA accomplishments noted on the above post, Myah Taylor was voted basketball homecoming queen by the Dyersburg student body a few weeks ago.  This speaks volumes about her character and the respect she has among her peers.  She is a positive presence on the basketball court, not only by the way she plays, but by the way she encourages her teammates and strives to make all of them better.  She definitely is deserving of a AA Miss Basketball title.

Abby Dew from Houston County for single A.  She started as a Freshman at PG.  Has been all-district and all-tournament all years.  Last yr was all region and all area team.  Houston county has moved from AP Pll from 6th in 2013, to 4th 2014 to 2nd place this year.  She has been a big part of this.  They made their very first state appearance last year.  She is scoring 20 pts a game, 5 asissts, 3 steals, 3 rebounds and field goal % is over 50%.  Has already scored her 1000 pts.  Expecting this team to make another state appearance this year.  My understanding she had multiple scholarship offers.  I have watched her play and her jump shot is the best out there IMO.

Already signed at Bethel

Elizabethton's 5'10" junior wing Kayla Marosites should be a finalist.  She plays on an undefeated team that is the defending AA state champion.  The team is 10 deep with quality players and Kayla still stands out.  She is averaging 19 points, 7 rebounds, 3.4 steals, is 48-113 on three point shots for 42.5%, she shoots 84% at the free throw line, and blocks a lot of shots.  I have watched nearly every game of her career including games at the state tournament where she was a dominant force as a freshmen and sophomore.  Kayla can go either right or left to the rim, can create her own shot, sets up her teammates with assists, and can knock down three balls from well beyond the arc.  She is also a relentless defender that creates havoc with steals, deflections, and athletic blocked shots.  Her twin sister Kelci is outstanding as well and it is a joy to watch these two play.  Unfortunately for the rest of AA, these two are just juniors and will come back for another year.  Go Cyclones!

She may well move on to the next level with 3 state championships under her belt.  Dont see anyone close to Elizabethton this year and Kayla is a major reason for that!

D2A   Anna Jones from University School of Jackson no doubt,  averaging 26 per game, 6.5 rebounds and has 113 steals through 24 games, USJ is 20-4 on the year per the Jackson Sun,  she has been running the point all year since their sr point guard went out with an acl, she has been constantly double teamed and box and 1.  She is averaging over 30 ppg since Christmas with triple double vs TCA 40 points, 11 rebounds and 10 steals,,, had 43 vs Madison, she reached the 1000 point mark last week as a sophomore, has 627 on the year, ran a nice article in the Jackson Sun in todays paper. 5-11" guard that is smooth on the floor, not sure who she is getting recruited by but not sure that goes into consideration for the award

Lakelyn Bouldin has taken her team to sub state twice; once as an 8th grader when she was moved up to play 4 games at the high school level averaging over 20 points per game; the second time was last year.  These are the only 2 times that VB girls basketball has made a sub state appearance.

Lakelyn has been voted;

3 time Pre Season 6A Player of the Year (Fresh, Soph, Jr)

2 time District 6A Player of the Year (Fresh, Soph)

2 time District 6A Tournament MVP (Fresh, Soph)

Region Tournament MVP (Soph)

2 time Region All Tournament(8th grade year, Fresh)

TSWA All State 2013

As far as AAA goes no doubt to me the two best players are Crystal Dangerfield and MeMe Jackson of Blackman. Would be a shame if neither one of these ladies was a Mrs. Basketball finalist. MeMe a Tennessee commit and Dangerfield a UConn commit. Both are deserving.

well, if you're going off of what school they are signed with, then these two win. But if you're going off of stats, Meme has had nowhere near the outstanding season that everyone expected. She's a good player, no doubt. However to keep things in perspective, her stat line isn't all that great. She is only averaging like 10-12 a game...

AAA goes to Dangerfield, no doubt!
