No not at all. The offense is very good without Banks with him 1 of the best ever at SC. I heard today his mom has moved and got a job so it looks like he is here to stay. I did some investigating since SDOT said the Bears had injuries and that was the case. Both corners and 4 of the 5 starting LBs were out of the scrimmage. I can tell you any Smoky Bears team will be in for a rough year if 6 defensive starters are out for a friday night game. As always the Bears need to stay healthy and it sounds like they are just being cautious. Make no mistake about it if this team is healthy I predict 1 of the best seasons ever.

GoBears!!

GB are you going to be at the scrimmage Monday?

Is 5a that much better then 6a. Sevier County isn't ranked in the Top 10. I think Sevier County faired well in 6a. But we don't even hold a spot in 5a.

http://sonnymoorepowerratings.com/h-s-foot.htm#classes at least this ranking gives us some credit.     B)

I hope the Smoky Bears prove a point this year...!! Being put out of the 6a playoffs by Maryville and occasionally Dobyns Bennett isn't a unsuccessful year.

I miss 6a already. I don't think we are ready for the 5a Power Houses apparently. Donovan Says So!!!

Well I like Sdot Bears and gobears89 to much to say anything tonight after the Heritage and Maryville scrimmages. Hope they pull it back together at Cleveland.

I'll say it. Our line is bad. Real bad. Not really blaming anyone. We got a couple kids that can go. But were very thin on the line and smaller in size than last year. Looks like we'll be weak at running back to. We have some good starters, but no depth. And I personally don't like our schemebon defense. I'm sure we went to it because of a lack if linemen, but I don't think it'll work. I'll be at the games cheering on the smoky bears, but this could be a very long season

I could tell the line wasn't the same the other night. Heritage got at the QB a few times. I do think Heritage has improved and Maryville has run every team they've played right off the field . I do look for them to have to travel in two years to get some games because it will come down to where no one will want to play them the way it looks.

And just to think Hammontree signed up to play Maryville in week 1. You have to be crazy or stupid to do that.

I'm not to mad about Maryville being our first game everybody knows how its gonna go we've gotten better but it will still be a 30 point game we can just go ahead and get it over with and regroup the next week for Anderson County who I don't know how they'll be this year so maybe we can pull the upset to get to 1-1 before South Doyle and WB

I'm just saying most teams usually try to schedule a team that they know they can beat at the start of the season or atleast a team they can compete with. This allows a team to get a warm-up game in to gain some confidence going into the meat of the schedule. This is the standard procedure for most teams at all levels of the sport.Heritage has done the exact opposite and scheduled a team that is guaranteed to mercy rule them. All that will do is damage the team's morale. I don't see any good coming from that.

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
