torchpowers
White County is the same five to eight girls that played Sparta Youth Basketball together when they were 7/8 years old. NO TRANSFERS here! I know this for 100% fact because I have coached everyone of them in one form or another. Cracks me up about the 5 transfers and not believing that White county has zero. It's just not typically the way we do things around here. When these team win its because they grew up in a small town and the coaches do the best they can with what they have. Kills me that these towns three times the size of most towns in the Uppercumberland can't win without having transfers from two, three towns in order to be successful. Would love to see Blackman, Riverdale, Oakland , ect.... In a couple years if they had to play with the players that were born in their own town! although I think they could put some great teams on the court unfortunately I don't think we will never know. Bradley Central made it to Refional finals with one player-a transfer (surprise, surprise) C'mon man. How nice would it be if everyone played on the team they grew up playing for instead of transferring just to play Bball. How nice would that be to see some equality across the state and players playing for the name on the front of the jersey instead of the one on the back. It's all good but to set the record straight White County has ZERO transfers. The way it should be!!! Cheers

Only 2 of these girls even make a contribution. These transfers stem from the resignation of a coach from LCA, everything was done above board. White County in Oakland's position so get off your moral high horse and quit making excuses before the game is even played. I can see Oakland's time away from playing Sparta hasnt made them any less bitter towards boro schools

MidTennFootball
Tell those two they can't play if it doesn't make any difference . Not every student athlete cares solely about playing time. I can assure you that every player for Oakland embraces the concept of team first, because that is the way it has always been under Grand staff. Playing time is earned, not given just because a player is home grown. If that's the case, let's just give everyone participation medals and not have a postseason
Hoopz4days
With ease?? Obviously you don't keep up with girls high school basketball. This is a very talented team from Oakland. They have played a tuff schedule. They have good athletes and are well coached. On the other hand, we too are a very talented team, well coached, and play with more heart than any team that I have seen in a long time. There is no doubt this is going to be the game to watch in Tennessee Monday night. We do have a ace in the hole. Were at home with what I would say is one of the best fan bases in the state. Prediction; Warriorettes by 2 in a thriller. Go get 'em girls!!![/quote Edited March 2, 2015 by Hoopz4days
Hoopz4days
I've been around high school basketball for years!! White county is a tough place, has a great fan base. Not to mention they are loaded with talent and can shoot from anywhere on the floor.. I'm not taking anything away from Oakland. They too are loaded with talent and a great coach. I just don't see them being able to come into Sparta and win. Don't get me wrong it's gonna be a great game but I think Sparta wins this one.. I think it'll be pretty close though. It really doesn't matter to me if they have the recruits. In the Boro, that's how they do business. They have moved back and forth so much it just seems right to them. On the hand, we stay with what we got. Its the only way they can stay up with the Blackmans, and Rivercheaters, I mean Riverdale. 90warrior
I wish some of you would quit disrespecting Oakland. I am one of the biggest wc fans on here but I do live in reality. Oakland is an elite team. I will be pulling for my warriorettes and be there supporting them but we will have to play an A game and them be off a little to beat them. if I was guessing I say Oakland is prolly favored by 15. Hoopz4days
The murfreesboro schools go back and forth every year and beat up on one another. One year Oakland is stacked, the next it's riverdale, Siegal and Blackman. It's a revolving door.. Just depends on where the kids land as to who has the better team. Small town schools such as Sparta, cumberland county etc play the same kids from the time they are in grade school all the way to the top.. Same with Shelbyville in years past.. Ricky left and the program went down.. Coincidence? I think not. I'm not saying Blackman recruits or any of them for that matter, just saying it seems a little suspicious.. But in the grand scheme of it all, you have to beat the best to be the best.. Go Warriorettes!
Hoopz4days
P.S.. No disrespect to Oakland at all. I've known Coach Jennifer Grandstaff since she coached at Moore County. Class act, great coach, well respected and always has her girls ready to play. Oakland is a great program with a winning tradition. I'm just simply saying white county is a hard place to play and they will have to play very well to win. white county has a huge advantage playing on their home wood with their home crowd roaring.. KYTNGBB
IMO Sparta wins this one with ease, especially on their home court.. Hope I'm right.. I want some of whatever you were on when you made this post....
