Best girls team to never win a state championship

Sorry if I wasn't clear. Yes, Riverdale does not count. I'm speaking of teams that have never won a championship.

I'm not sure how you could make it more clear than saying NEVER. I guess some people just don't quite have a grasp on the English language. Or moral standards for that matter.

Scotts Hill back in the mid 90's...couldn't get past Bradford in Sub State. #1 Bradford always found a way to lose to Gleason in regionals, come to the 'Hill and leave with a close one or two point victory...then usually cruise to the gold ball.

I think SH the last time they were at the state. They could beat anyone but Riverdale with the additional players they picked up that year. They lost only to nationally ranked teams that year. Probably the best team to ever play in northeast Tennessee.

Bradford had some pretty dominant teams back in the day.

01-02 Jackson Co started the year nationally ranked. The went 33-4 that year, all 4 loses were to nationally ranked teams. Shelbyville twice (once by 1 point), #1 nationally Lynwood CA, by 5 points, and nationally ranked Bishop McNamara MD. Won the AA championship for the 3rd year in a row that year. Such a fun year!

 

Those Science Hill teams were incredibly good. So they never won a championship?

Yes they lost to Riverdale twice in finals and Memphis central in lsemi the year they one it.

Bradford had some pretty dominant teams back in the day.

They sure did...I still remember Bill Haney's broadcast of the championship game one of those years....near the end of the game he said "I've been here all week, and Bradford looks to be the best team here, regardless of classification".

Franklin County had Latina Davis ( Tennessee ) and LaTonia Johnson ( Memphis ) and a Limbaugh kid that I believe went to UT-Martin and were ranked Nationally.

Moore County lost In the Finals to Bradford and had a player go on to become 3 time OVC player of the yr at Tn Tech, and guards that went on to play at UT-Martin and Lipscomb. That's a lot of talent on a 1a team.

That team from Clarksville a couple of yrs ago with 4-5 D1 kids including Graves (Tennessee) was loaded but not very well coached and got bounced in State Qtrs.

I coached LaTonia Johnson and Dawn Limbaugh in AAU. That Franklin County was loaded.

kelly jolly's team at white co. number one in the nation for awhile. beat state champion coffee co. 3 times that year.

I was thinking about how good the Upperman girls teams of the late 90's and early 00's were. They got to the championship a couple times, once in Class A losing to Gleason and once in Class AA a couple years later losing to district rival Jackson Co. Any other good teams, that were nationally ranked like this Upperman team was at times, to never win it all?

upperman "should " or could've won 3 state championships.. But obviously they didn't..
