Booger thinkin Indianb said something like that first.......that being said........how many Smith County, McMinn County, Kingston, Maplewood, and even Heritage (who is next door) people you think traveled to Alcoa last season to fill the visitor stands....even Johnson County travelin down in the 1st round?......all them together would not match the Maryville crowd....those PUBS and those matchups are exceptions.....

Booger just sayin

There were actually a LOT of Heritage fans at Alcoa last season.

Like it or not. It's going to happen. 8 classifications currently and should still be 8 when the vote occurs. Each class will just contain different teams than they do now.

I believe that the TSSAA will accommodate all and keep the privates and publics together for the regular season so schools can make money off of key match-ups (Catholic and Fulton games have always been packed houses since the Harrison Smith-Dennis Rogan days), then revert to the z-plan to split the privates and publics for playoffs.  They will have 6 football playoff classes in division 1 and 3 classes in division 2, and have 9 state champions in football and 5 champions in basketball (3 in division 1 and 2 in division 2). How to split in basketball will be tricky.  When I was in high school in Illinois, single A and double A schools were all mixed together in conferences.  When the playoffs started they did quads of 6 teams in the same classification.  Two teams got byes (the teams with the best record) and then you played and moved on.  Schools would bid on hosting quads the one mandate was the gym had to be a certain size. My school had 800 kids but our gym sat 3,000 so we hosted quads all 4 years the schools in our area didn't have big enough gyms. You could do that.

guess it could be seen where there would be alot of Heritage there, even as bad as they are.....everyone from all 3 schools there in that close proximity and living in the same hoods....hard to believe that many ball playersin that small area....everyone program living that close canyt live at the top of the food chain......Heritage does seem to getting a bit better though.

Heritage and WB have some good runs every now and then, but they don't tend to stay good in the long term, which is why we and Maryville stay at the top of the Blount County food chain.

"The only money they(public schools) generate is when they play Private schools". I guess you have never attended a Acloa-Maryville, blackman-Oakland, Franklin-Breantwood, Trousdale-Macon, Or Giles-Marshall game have you? Lots of public schools do well on raising money, big gates and large concession sales.

Actually the opposite. Privates need to play publics especially the lower classifications. Often times visiting rural publics schools will have more fans that home standing privates.

You could do it, 6 classes/8 regions would equal about 7 teams per region with 343 teams (5 classes would average 9+ teams, too many). The problem will be determining playoff qualifiers. Also if the multiplier is out some of the private schools would could be playing at the smaller levels, whether affecting playoffs or not some would be way too much for their leagues.

I am assuming Division II schools would be brought back into this.
