Monday, March 7 a young man spoke to the boys in the fieldhouse. I almost forgot how big he is as I haven't seen him in about a year. His name is Bruno Reagan and he stands about 6'6" and he is a trim 325 pounds. Bruno is a 3 time state wrestling medalist and a 2 time state heavyweight champion from Clarksville high school. Bruno played football from the 10th-12th grade at Clarksville high and is now a starting lineman at Vanderbilt. Imagine that....3 years of high school football and now a starting lineman at Vanderbilt.

Bruno spent the better part of 30 minutes explaining the benefits of wrestling for the football player, how it helped him and how it can help others if they give it a shot. He also offered his assistance to anybody willing to try sports at the next level. The only question asked from the kids was "is it hard?" and the answer was "yes it is." Hard work is a reletive term. One persons idea of hard work is different from anothers. What they put into the sport is exactly what they should expect out of that sport. A coach will work his kids hard but he cannot force anything more than the kids can give.

In my 35 years of wrestling experience I have never heard of anyone dying from a wrestling practice, but what I have experienced more times than I can count is the smile when that kid picks up his first win and the look of accomplishment when he steps on that podium after his final match.
