First off congrats to all four of our teams going to the region and best of luck to all the teams.

Proud of White County tonight in there game played a solid game all night long.  The championship game was a good game for sure.

Summit if anyone from CCHS has any questions on why she was not coach of the year watch her after the game what a joke.  She has a really good team that can be a great team but its not fair to her kids for her to take the attention of there performance by the way she acted.  She played for a legend in Lamar Rogers who never acted like that in anyway.  It is just a shame and the leaders at CCHS should not be happy.

By the way Summit should she have been assesed a technical for being on the floor?

First of all, congratulations to cchs lady jets and coach Miller for a come from behind win against Cookeville to win district 6. Second, for all the people out there who don't like coach Miller, I can only believe it's because you're tired of her teams spanking yours. If she did something to dishonor the game, tell us what it is. I've been at all the tournament games, and she has carried herself well. After the game, she plays to her fans, and they love it. She never talks down to her players and refuses to talk bad about other players or coaches. Third. Tonight when awards were handed out, she and her team clapped for everyone. When they were awarded their trophy, only one Cookeville player on the far end of the bench clapped. And to the Sparta fan who thinks you shouldn't have starters in at the end of a game, how many starters did Sparta boys have on the floor at rhea co when they scored their 31st 3 with no time on the clock with a 30 point lead? Are you the pot or the kettle?

Let me ask a question 4vols. Why do you feel like coach Miller didn't get coach of the year this year? She went 10 and 0 in the district. If anybody deserved it, it was her. But yet her piers didn't see it. Last year, why didn't she get it? She went 9 and 1. Again great stats. But No coach of the year. Why do you feel like that is? It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see why. She shows no class. I'm not saying she's not a good coach, I'm saying she's not a good winner.

I think I addressed that already and so did you. 19-1 last two years in the district. People don't like you when you beat them. The only show of classlessness I saw in the finals came when Cookeville coach and bench gave no applause when cchs received their trophy. And besides its " COACH of the year" not "miss congeniality". If it's a popularity contest, then change the name of the award. She's 5-0 this year against the two coaches who won. How could anybody not have voted for her? If I had a child playing, I wouldn't let them play for either of the two who won. And I would bet that not one of the girls who play for her would either

Do you think that if Cookeville or white co had won that game, that either of their coaches would have just taken a seat and not acknowledged their fans or celebrated? I've seen every team in the district play at least twice this year, boys and girls, and they all celebrate a win. If people don't want her cheering with her team and fans then beat her and her team. Not voting for someone who is deserving, shows less class than celebrating a win with your fans.

Mw4vols.... in a reply to your previous post and to answer your question with 100% confidence, there were no starters on the floor in the last thirty seconds or whatever time frame you said when White County boys hit the threes.  The kids that made those threes were bench players and if you have any question of that issue the video was on the Tennessean.

Good luck to you and your team Friday, your players play hard and get the job done.  Good luck to all teams this Friday.

Vols you make a far argument. But lets not forget the past. Last year we beat on yall like a war drum. We won especially when it counted, Region finals. Do you remember how Crossville players and fans and coach acted? No claps, no good job girls, no good luck in sub state. The whole team, coach included, thumbed us. And who got coach of the year? Haley. Not because he won, but because of how he won. Dodgen this year, same thing. May not have had the best season, but he carried himself well and so did Mindy Odem. Its nothing more than comparing "class" to "classless"

Warriorettes win and will play Mcminn Co friday night at 6 our time . If all goes well , then we will play Cumberland Co in the region semi-finals . By the way Cookeville just gave Cumberland Co the win and Cumberland coach made a fool of herself . Just to bad .

White Co. beat McMinn Co. at the Sonic Classic Christmas Tournament in Sparta 62-37, but this young group of girls at McMinn have improved a lot since then.  After two previous district losses to Bradley of 32 and 41 points, Bradley had to have a 3 pointer at the buzzer to beat McMinn 50-47 in the District 5 Championship game last night.  The Lady Cherokees starting lineup is usually two freshmen, two sophomores, and one Senior....with mostly sophomore subs coming off the bench as subs. They still have their Jekyll & Hyde nights, but have played some solid, consistent basketball the last several games.  It will be interesting to see if McMinn's girls have improved enough and can continue playing good enough to make it a closer game against a very good White County team.

White County Coach Michael Dodgen was virtually raised in McMinn County's gym as a youngster.  His Dad, Donald coached the McMinn County boys teams for several years, and is now the AD at Farragut High School.

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
