Nothing fatal about the z plan that some minor tweeking could have fixed.  Overall, the playoff fields will prove to have been stronger under the zplan than what we now have.

But TSSAA makes more money under his plan, because more games being played.

The sad part about this is the TSSAA knew this was a possibility before it happened.  Since the two schools were banned the TSSAA should have put the 10 teams in one region and the top 8 would have played for the 4 spots.  This would have alleviated the  problem.  The one thing they did do when told about this was move the two banned schools to different regions.  This kept one region from having only 3 eligible teams  in one region.  Looking back it might have prevented two 0-11 teams.  The regions need to be balanced more so that everyone has same chance to go as others.  Team with 5 teams has a great chance than one with eight.  6A  makes playoffs even more sickening.  They all get to go.

I think the problem is with having 6 classes. That leads to small regions and bad teams getting in. If TSSAA dropped to 5 or 4 classes, it would make bigger regions and make it harder to get to the playoffs. That won't happen, because TSSAA would lose too much playoff revenue.

You could drop a class or 2 and add another week of playoffs to help.make up for lost revenue. It would affect a very small group of basketball playing football players since only 8 or 10 teams would be in the finals.

The Tssaa will lose tons of money on those games in the memphis region through the 1st 3 rounds. Nobody will be at those games.

There should be a rule that replaces a team with zero wins with a team from another region that barely missed the playoffs.
