After seeing several MJ games this year and speaking to several MJ players, I have come to the conclusion that the HC is the source for many of the problems in the program. It seems to me that inevitably TP will be fired. I would like to get some of your thoughts on how many head coaches would be interested in the position if it became available. Has it become a dead end job that they would struggle to fill or is MJ a sleeping giant that successful coaches would flock too?

Not an MJ fan here, but if you look at the size of their school for kids to pick from, how new everything is, great stadium and field, nice, brand new indoor sports facility, yes. I would say that is a place where a coach would like to be. You're talking about a place that has everything needed to compete at the highest potential.

So you made a new screen name to trash Coach Perry.  Now that's an original.... Little Johnny not getting enough playing time?

I think there is ZERO chance that TP's job is at risk. As to the question of would other coaches be interested, certainly. I think a lot of coaches at quality programs would be interested and apply, but I truly think the question is nothing but a dig at TP. As for my thoughts moving forward...TP stays and the program improves. Tough to beat the Rutherford county schools regardless of who the coach is and I think state championship expectations are a stretch.

I think MJ is a GREAT job, but your right, championship expectations are a stretch. However having a sub .500 record isn't a option either. MJ can't even win big in its own district/region so not sure they should be giving RuCo schools any attention.

I had the upmost respect for Roger Perry, and by all accounts his son is great guy as well. Hope he gets it turned around. Have enjoyed watching games there, great environment

Mj is a growing area with much more development on the way. I think it would be a hot job for sure, but TP won't get fired this year. I think the accusations are a little far fetched and ridiculous. He has a good young staff that is still learning, good group of talent coming up and some great facilities. I would love to hear people's opinions that are in the loop. Not parents because they will always side with Johnny because everyone's kid is an all American.

    • A lot of people don’t realize how valuable JMO was. QB, safety, punter and holder on pat’s. Kid did it all. I fully believe if he was healthy Dburg would have made it to the ship last year.
    • If Dyersburg quarterback who is also starting safety hadn’t got hurt it would of another blowout
    • For perspective the county school I’m associated and graduated from only has 7,600 people in the entire county with a median age of roughly 47. That’s not very many 14-18 year olds to choose from. I think the football team had 25-28 kids or around there.  On the other hand Shelby County has 916,000+ with a median age of 36. This isn’t just about Shelby county, but all the big ones with huge economic advantages!  An urban/rural split would benefit tons of smaller schools that have to compete with counties with 120x the amount of people. Especially the ones who can pick and choose their players from a pool like that!   I also agree with Pujo about charter and magnets and they will eventually be phased into the private divisions because it is obviously an advantage plus all the funding! Add that county schools can’t go recruit outside of their county like charters and magnets!
    • They should be starting next week and go from there.  They never do Spring Practice in April
