Who hates having the Super 32?

I've said for years go to 4 classes and add a option of an 11th kickoff game like the tip off classics in basketball. But alas.

The thing I hate most (well almost the most) is not being able to schedule regular JV or Freshman games on Mondays.  Because of the travel expense, and more importantly, the traveling so far on a school night, lots of 6A schools in the east struggle to find JV and Freshman games. I feel for Bradley Central being so far from everyone in the district.  I don't have a kid out there, but I believe those JV and Freshman games are extremely important to the long term success to any program.

We have a lot of long trips too, though nowhere near as long as a few of BC's.

Got all of our Freshman games in but 1(Thursday night games) but did get several JV match ups cancelled. Tough to drive 80 miles or more for a JV scrimmage on a Monday night. And I agree, getting these guys the playing time is important.

As long as the Super 32 is in place, 5A will run circles around 6A in terms of overall strength of the classification. It's a farce

So what's your plan again MTF?

But wait, don't even tell me if it includes us going back into a region with White County, Cumberland County etc...

We want to play WEST, and I don't care if it's the RuCo teams or the WC teams or a mixture of both.

You have your assignment, aaaand go!....

I also thought that Cookeville should be playing Wilson Co schools or Rutherford. It's a natural fit.

Why's that? I can't speak for BC but I can for Cookeville, and playing in this region was MUCH MUCH better, light years better, than the region we've been in the last few years. Better for the players, the coaches and the fans.

Playing in a region with White County, Stone etc... better than playing the RuCo teams? For who?

6A teams should play in regions with other 6A teams. Not 5A.

The question was, "Who hates the Super 32?" I answered "I don't!" As in: I don't hate the Super 32.

Your just looking at it from a Cookeville perspective, I'm looking at it from a statewide perspective. The quality of football in 6A stunk this year when compared to other classifications and it will continue to stink as long as this plan is in place.

Under both the 3 class and the 5 class system, football was strong in this state and there were plenty of matchups to look forward to each week and the attendance reflected that. It was never an automatic that a team was going to make a deep run every year.

What I want is football in this state to be strong again. It's not going to be strong under a 6 class system, period. 4 classes, heck even 5 classes, would be a dramatic step in the right direction. Like Solomon said, if the TSSAA us so heck bent on getting their money, make it an 11 game season so the TSSAA can do so. If it was up to me, it'd be going to 3 classes

What Bradley did this year, was schedule a lot of the old 5A district and 4A district teams around here for JV.

All in can say is that it sucks to be the largest 32 schools in the state. Im kinda starting to like the new set up

Didn't suck for us, we loved it!

I'm still trying to figure out who it sucked for? Maybe Bradley Central with their long travel times? But their poster on this thread said they like the competition...

Didn't suck for Warren County, they went 1-9 and got to go play Maryville in a 1st round playoff game. And I think a big majority of WC folks were glad to have that opportunity.

Don't see how it sucked for any of the Rutherford, Williamson, or Wilson county teams.

Plus, maybe it has benefited the realignment of the other 5 classes?...

Anyway FBfan, good luck in Cookeville next weekend. Beat Catholic & bring that gold ball back to Middle Tennessee!

    • 20 but had 5-6 not dressed every game. It went down towards the end due to injuries and obviously only 15 got to dress for the state tournament. Then, they only lost 2 from this year and gain 8 from the middle school for next year
    • As somebody mentioned before, this is going to result in a massive lawsuit, can you imagine professional "educators" actually having the conversation about getting "the bad kids" out of the high school?  And the head coach asking directly to change grades, gets turned down, comes back again and gets it approved?  This is unbelievable.  In addition to the lawsuit, the state Department of Education is going to come down extremely hard on this.  WYSH is on the war path.  There could be dozens more lose their jobs by the time this is over.  And yeah the real shame is the kids being affected that literally had nothing to do with this and actually worked hard to earn their grades.
