3A BlueCross Bowl: CPA vs. Alcoa

I am going to enjoy this game! Don't get me wrong, I really want CPA to make it competitive, and I think they have a very good team. But I think last year, Alcoa losing their starting QB right before the championship game, and CPA winning 7-0 has left some thinking that CPA and Alcoa are on the same level.

I will believe it when I see it. Alcoa's front 4 and LB's are for real. I do agree that Alcoa is not as strong running the ball as they have been in most past years, but they are more 2 dimensional than any recent year, and the D makes up for any shortcomings that the O running game may have, as compared to previous years.

I'm sure Liberty was a fine team, but neither CPA or Liberty (or ND) would keep it close against Maryville. Alcoa is, overall, on a different level than the rest of 3A. Although Alcoa didn't run the ball like they are used to against ND, or CAK (twice), they still managed to win by large margins (40 ND, and 26 and 24 against CAK). I'm afraid there are going to be some very disappointed CPA fans.

If I were going to take the other side, I will point out that ND was in a rebuilding year, and CAK had an unprecedented number of starters lost. Perhaps CPA will enter the game more healthy, and surprise me. I just don't think so. I think Alcoa will win this game comfortably.

You are a solid poster. Even though you guys killed us this year I enjoyed our discussions.

See you at your place next year.

...now that Booger is patched up and back from lickin his wounds from the loss Friday..... gonna educate all on how this little squabble on the plattoe tween the Presbyterians and Alcoee is gonna go down........CPA better have sum improvement over last year on that O-line; this Alcoee D line is no joke and a bit better than last year with a better function LB core (Stronger and More Physical).....if CPA is to throw it; he better be prepared to do it in a big hurry w/out mistakes...remember; CAK and ND like throw it too

Dont no if CPA's defense is as good as the Irish defense; it will need to be at least as good as ND to stay in it....Alcoee is not that good offensively....or shall it be said, that was ND's out if we coulda stayed on the field with the Alcoee defense...

.... the Tornadoes only had 150 total yds of offense the other night

Ha! The Alcoa defense was bust'n heads and handing the ball to their Offense on the ND door step. No need to go far for that 42 points! Yea!

As far as number 3 and 8, CPA may be smaller on the weight side, but they are trained to be much stronger than the other teams they play, they use leverage and superior strength. They should out muscle Alcoa on both sides of the line.

just went through the scout game films and CPA is the spitting image of a healthy CAK. Good looking athletes, smart and well coached. CPA will have a very rough time getting a single TD when it matters. Alcoa's receivers are the difference along with 13's speed to the outside. Alcoa D will light up the board too! Alcoa 31 CPA 9....GO injury free game!!! GO TORNADOES!!

Having seen both teams in person the athletes are not the same. The QBs are similar but CPAs WR are bigger and faster than CAK with the exception of Pope. #25 is the best HS player (based on his value for his team and how CPA uses him not college potential) on either CAK or CPA. Also, CAK didnt have a healthy RB as good or physical as #45.

I wouldnt discount the athletes CPA has at WR, LB or DB.

I still think Alcoa wins this game but CPA has proven they can compete and win against fast and athletic teams.

Just like 50% of Acloa's team. They couldn't make the big brother squad so they settled for Alcoa.

ya got that Right! Maryville is the benchmark in this state! None better as long as GQ is there. Lots of life long friends and family are Rebs. Most of us grew up in Maryville but chose to attend Alcoa as we have the best campus, location ,teachers and community support in this state, not to mention the states most dominate D and the owner of 13 gold balls...BC,BC,BC tell this PCSer how much we Love our big brother! GO MurvLL!! Edited by ALCOAgoon

hmm...private school vs.open zone school for the Gold ball......naa...privates and opens don't have an advantage....just a coincidence that happens every year...the "what gets off that yellow bus" schools don't have a chance and the T$$AA will do nothing about it as long as the $$ keeps rolling in....

For those that are wondering...Booger showed up at Alcoa. Meeting him face to face is not something I recommend. If you think his posts are hard to read, you should try to talk to him In person. A nice referee had to come up and get him and escort him back to his mother. All kidding aside...it was a pleasure to spend a few minutes with you.

    • I believe that was last year. I was interested in the Jones vs Baker comment, so I went back and looked at GC. I am not a fan of either nor am I a baseball guru. This looks like to me the duel was not close and if the errors would not have been made Eagleville would have won. I assume you are a little biased. I do think your mph for Jeffcoat and Baker must be from last year.  Baker-85 pitches 67 strikes. 5.2 innings, 5H, 1BB, 0ER and 7K's. 3 errors  Jones- 78 pitches 37 strikes. 4 innings, 2H, 5BB, 0ER and 1K. 1 error   Adams and the UH kid are really good as well. What about South Pitt and Oakdale? I heard they have some good ones.
    • I hate this for all the kids in the program and fans alike. I can't recall of anything like this before in my lifetime but I'm sure it isn't a first. After criminal investigations are complete and the TSSAA looks into this the program it will be facing Nuclear Winter for some time to come. It's always the innocent left behind that end up paying the price for something someone else has done. I'm sure the transfer portal will be very active in Clinton over the summer months. How could you find a good coach worth his salt that would take on a situation like this not knowing what will happen.
    • I’ve seen Jeffcoat in person twice and he was 84-87 both times and the one time I saw Baker he was low 80’s, he actually got out dueled by Jones from ER in that outing.
