private vs public in football final

Idk why TSSAA can't do something somewhat similar in a way to what Alabama has.  Have a main association for all public school sports and a sub-association within it for the private school sports. The sub-association can police its self but still has to fall back periodically to the main association.

Most public schools have went to  H e l l  in a hand basket and that is the reason these private schools are in existence. Bad experiences in public schools are why these families are sending their kids to these schools not football. What Doe Doe bird in his right mind would take a kid with any chance of college football potential and transfer their kid to a 2A school like GCA hoping for a big time school to come find them. That is the reason Randall Cobb of Alcoa was over looked by everyone because of the type of competition he played against. I know most on here hate GCA but I watched them play a couple of times this year and I'm telling you all the biggest difference I see in them and some of their weaker competition is that most of their kids have been playing organized football in some way or the other most of their lives. This football powerhouse that most people have in their minds about GCA is BS.  I would bet anything they go 3-7 or 4-6 next year losing that many seniors. When your starting an eighth grader in the line tells me all I need to know about 2A.

Who cares about the privates being with publics. Once they separate there is gonna be a whole lot more trouble when they come take your players. It is what it is right now, no need to whine and cry about it. I personally think they should go back to four classes for football. Its way to watered down. One fellow, i think from sequatchie said teams should be divided up by how good teams have been and their tradition. How about this, we give everyone a state title that doesnt have one so they will be happy.

Take Boyd as an example. We had a really good run then 2, 500 years. This year was back to the old standard. Next year will be pretty good as well. My son will be a junior and that junior class has been together since 6th grade on the field. We have 2 good players that left to go elsewhere (scholarship) and one that came in as a freshman. This team is good because they've been together and they like each other. To quote a friend of mine who shall remain nameless.....we don't have a turd in the whole group, which is nice. These kids are here for the education and just happen to play football.

No, I said if they can't work out an even divide due to private school and open zone questions/fussing, they should at least look at it. It appears to work in a few other states. Don't worry, it appears Marion will continue to be one of the largest in their class and won't be seeing anyone like Alcoa or Notre Dame.

Yeah that sounded real brave.

Anyone know the last time a small rural school ever won the prize. Wonder why that is.

Pujo the reason for that has a lot more to do with kids playing organized ball from day one like mentioned in an earlier post. I wished there were some barometer that the TSSAA could use regarding that vs enrollment which would make things more fair. Lets take a rural school out in nowhere that the kids learning about football in the eighth grade and then you take a school like Alcoa that has a roster of 75 kids and everyone of them have played organized football since the second grade. Not very fair is it. The private schools get kids of the same walk of life that have played since the second grade also in most cases. I listen to BS and lies told from everyone about Maryville and the same reason is why they are good every year. 96 man roster and everyone has played together since the second grade.

Sox, we start full pads here in kindergarten....This unit that just played their last game together played since kindergarten for the most part.

But. in the end, these smaller schools field only 11-15 that can compete and win

Our kids start in kindergarten and the youth teams have always done real well.

    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
