If other schools could use Neyland stadium for their home game against Maryville and fill it with the meanest prisoners from around the world.Give those prisoners liquor and say they can go free if Maryville doesn't win. Maryville still wouldn't be intimidated .Coach Quarles would have the crowd throw away the bottles and get them to sing gospel songs as the Rebs were winning by whatever number he thought wouldn't make the opponent's coach look to bad.Just thought of the perfect song."Shall we gather at the river"

I just hope that big number in the end zone is the same at the end of the game. We don't have a big number displayed like that, but we might need one in a few years.

Never been into tatoos but I've got no problem saying Maryville and GQ are at the top of TN high school football .Do I wish DB would have had a program to match that for my kids and the Kingsport community over the last several years ? Would the folks at other schools from here to OR want such a program ? I do enjoy watching Maryville play when I get a rare chance because that's the way the game should be played .

Yeah, I do. BUT, I'm not gonna bow down to them and gush over them. Everyone knows how good they have been. DB has too proud of a tradition for their fans to gush over them, too. Just my opinion of course.

Tradition is great but that doesn't win state titles in the playoff era.My alma mater didn't have a great tradition of state titles back in the day,but Greeneville has got on the map with what they are doing.I'll take titles over tradition and I'm by no means the only person in Kingsport that feels that way.

Then be a Maryville fan? You talk about them as much as their own fans do. I'm sure R-Dub 87 or STARS, or Red Rebels can hook you up with some paraphernalia.

    • Pickett is good, may have a Mr. Football like season if he’s used correctly. One of the best teams Marion has fielded in a while. I think they go 12-1 and loose to ER.  ER has better players at almost every position. If they play discipline this year, they win soundly. If they don’t though…Marion could sneak away with it.
    • I’m betting the house on the Indians. Pickett and Co will be the only team to challenge the Indians in the East. Huntingdon can in the West. I think Brooks goes 15-0 and has the first perfect season and state championship in ER history.
    • Sounds like a great opportunity has opened up for the football team.  With the head coach of the diamond rebels making it official and quitting this week, there should be some room for the gridiron guys to benefit. I assume the administration won’t continue paying six figures to two former coach that quit to continue teaching drivers Ed. Thats pretty good money that could be redirected toward the football program. Also, with the more recent policies of pushing kids to only play one sport, abolishing the baseball program altogether would help on Friday nights in the fall. There is some decent speed on that baseball team that should’ve been playing on Fridays IMO. I’m not sure if anybody would really miss that baseball program anyway with it being across town from the school. The liability of letting players actually use the facilities could also be mitigated with closing the program. That liability seems to be a really big issue for 825. Anyway, it seems like a great opportunity is available.
    • Yeah, I read about their spring blue/gray scrimmage after I typed that.   Sounds like a real mess over there.  I just hate that for 'em.  Haw
    • Maybe OR will be, but Farragut, nah, I don’t think anybody realizes how much of a bad situation that program is in currently. I’m sure they will build out of it, but the next 3 to 4 years are going to be a long climb up.
