cbg
While it's unfortunate, every year you have great wrestlers that fail to make weight at the district (many years ago), region or state tournament. Often times a young wrestler has little if any trouble making weight early in the season but as the season progresses the wrestlers body begins to grow and they have a difficult time making weight at the end of the season. Many "ole timers" remember how the old Soviet Union was ultra successful and would have their young wrestlers grow into a weight classification instead of cutting down to a lower weight. They would wrestle with a body fat % of around 9-10% and the USA would wrestle with about 7-7.5% body fat. A few college programs are now taking that same approach and are trying to encourage kids to eat a health diet and get in extra strength training workouts instead of cutting so much weight. Best of luck to all competing!!! Bagley is from SHHS. 160 Alex Jeffers could have a shot at sneaking in the 5 or 6 place match if he wrestles well, Spangler from Tenn High could sneak in as well. Cooper Williams from SHHS could be in there as well
getreal2005
Really. Give him extra time. What's next ? I thought he had all week to make weight. I agree. It's unfortunate for any kid not to make weight at the Region Tournament. But, I don't think there should be a grace period in place to allow any kid the opportunity to make weight during weigh-ins. Indian423
You should be able to step on another scale at weigh ins. Just MY opinion. Sad for him. Hoping to see some Gold in the Tri-Cities. Go DB, TN and hate to say it but Science Hill.
Sommers
2nd scale for verification within 5-10 minutes should be protocol. Must ask, what ever happened to growth allowance? Perhaps some wrestlers are cutting too much the day before or day of competitions.

Hoping to see some Gold in the Tri-Cities. Go DB, TN and hate to say it but Science Hill. I am sure he was allowed to step on another scale. Most tournaments are going to have 3 or more scales to challenge a weight issue. It is to bad for the kid he is a very good wrestler and I am sure would have been on the podium. Newestguy
There seems to be a massive amount of confusion here. First there is a growth allowance. Every weight class goes up by 2 pounds after Christmas (106 becomes 108). In addition an extra pound is given for each day of consecutive competition. For an official weighin, once weighins are announced, after a team enters the weighin area no one may enter or leave until the weighin is complete. Once weighins begin there is no more checking weight. However, prior to weighins there is a check scale available for the wrestlers to use. No one can weigh in naked, but wearing a singlet is not required (that's for freestyle and kid events, not TSSAA) (underwear only). If a wrestler is over weight, they are allowed to challenge at that time and may try weighing on all the other official scales. There is no grace period and there shouldn't be.

BUT, he worked so hard..., it's not his fault..., the scales were heavy..., he deserves..., he should be "Entitled"..., Can't wait to hear about the brackets, venue, medal size, and why they don't medal to 10th place. Stir ! Edited February 15, 2016 by HSDAD

Stir ! you have got to be one of the rudest people I've ever seen. And if you wanna hear it ok.. The brackets, venue, and medals could all be much better. Brackets SHOULD be seeded so numerous kids don't continue to get screwed every year. The venue SHOULD be a place that's sanitary and not on top of cow turds, where there are noticeable bumps in the mats. And the medals SHOULD be more championship caliber. Bigger, shinier, unique.. Instead of all looking identical
