Can USJ finally get a gold ball?

Recommended Posts

Just watched some Milan highlights.

Was very impressed by Milan's O-line technique. Their "steps" are like what you see on a good college team.

Who is Milan's O-line coach now? Buy that man a steak.

Well now I can't go divulging that information. After all you guys did get our last o line coach. Bryce King. (don't know if he is still there).

But yeah this o line is very good and we have 3 guys carrying the rock that are the goods as well. Thanks for the compliment.

It will be interesting. I would not bet that there is anyone on USJ's schedule that they can't compete with. Win? Who knows. But if they have a good night and don't just fail to show up (which is not the mark of a CRB team) or have inordinate turnovers i.e. good decisions by the QB, I believe they may be a contender right now, year 1. That is asking a lot from a dramatic wholesale change from the past system, and probably too soon, but frankly I personally would not bet my hard earned money against them....

Well I guess it's about time that I get back on here and comment (so that it can be properly ignored! lol!). USJ has had a great regular season. They were in EVERY regular season game, year 1 under CRB. They narrowly lost in overtime early in the year, and narrowly lost to favored Milan at the end of regular season. While I think my friend BPM was licking his chops for payback before the season or after game one, I don't think that was the case as the Milan / USJ game went to the wire. Regardless of the playoffs, USJ has had a successful season under CRB, and I think this is just the beginning. Congrats to a fine program, school, and coach (and family) that I think the world of. If by chance they end up at the state game, I will be there.

To my friend BPM, congrats on a great season! Hope your team ends up at the state game. I will be pulling for you hard!

I'm not gonna lie. I was very impressed with USJ. didn't expect them to be as good as they were. CRB has worked some magic over there. Much respect for that man.

As far as Milan goes..... it's gonna be tough. A couple of undefeateds on this side of the bracket and they won't even be the favorites. Liberty, Stratfors and Dyersburg are all good. And no one can sleep on CPA. Will be a grind. Best of luck to your boys as well.

Still two tough games left!

With all due respect to Milan, DII-AA Briarcrest tomorrow will be USJ's toughest opponent of the season.

USJ plays against St. George's in week 11 is for the region championship, and the Gryphons are always tough.

That said, the program is in excellent shape. Coach Bradley is a superstar.

This USJ team has the potential to win a state championship.

They're not clicking on all cylinders yet though. Still some drops and miscues here and there.

The passing attack is great, and the defense is good enough. Trey Smith is a game changer at D tackle. He can "turn it on" and make plays in key moments.

If they can put it all together -- and Coach Bradley sure seems like the man to do it -- this team can get a gold ball.

While the odds are always stacked against any one team winning state (unless you are Maryville or Alcoa) wouldn't it be something if everything fell just right, things came together, and this team started to really put all the pieces together when it matters?!

I watch the score on my CoachT app every week and I sure hope USJ pulls it out tomorrow. Is Briarcrest in your path in the playoffs? I'm still learning D2 details, and of course every thing changes next year.

Briarcrest is not in same division as USJ so not in path to playoffs.   Winner of SG/USJ game next week gets the 1 seed at top half of bracket and loser gets 2 seed in bottom half of bracket.     Briarcrest is a well coached D2AA team.   Their coach won a state championship at Jackson Christian and usually produces hard nosed, (pardon the expression-gritty), ballplayers.

Thank you very much for the information that is very helpful. Sounds like the Bruins were able to generate offense wow Briarcrest had a very stout defense as the field compressed inside the 20. Since I can't get your local newspaper, if anyone has box score type game stats of first downs, rushing yards, passing yards, etc. I would be very interested. Also wondering about turnovers? Thanks for any help anyone has

    • Hmmmmm……doe dee doe doe….i drove the lawnmower down to practice today…….hmmmm…… we got some new faces………. One can run faster than my lawnmower in fifth gear…… a few will be disappointed come November that they jumped ship and went down to that sewage facility……. You can bet the lawnmower on that.
    • I don't know what's going on in the town of McMinnville, but I've read this and it's disturbing.  I'm a "player" person, and I want what's best for the player. If a player gets cut off the team because she said the "F word" then good grief. I mean, come on guys. I wish there was a way for the player to transfer to a different program and just play ball. There are a lot of athletes that are stuck because they're in crappy situations regarding their team/coach. This is player just happens to be one them.
    • Won't happen. College coaches will back the coach every time and it cost this young lady her senior season. Looks like the player may be right on this one. School let her  go after one season. This stuff happens more than you think.
    • “No college is going to offer a scholarship to a player that is kicked off of the team.” For language? I’m not seeing that as a dealbreaker.
    • Why did the coach get rehired after she was let go as an assistant by the former Warren County coach and the current AD?? Is that accurate?? I am very familiar with situations like this. Suprised lawsuits haven't happend before. If the coach unfairly let the player go, I think she has a shot because it cost her a scholarship. No college is going to offer a scholarship to a player that is kicked off of the team. Not going to happen. There are bad hires like this a bunch and kids are treated unfairly by coaches that can't coach a lick and have super long ropes somehow. Amazing how some of these coaches get hired and keep their job.
