What's wrong with wearing school gear? I see some coaches who are in school gear almost 7 days a week. Some of these coaches do have kids who are in little league and middle school.

The difference is it is not his kid he is going up and talking to as a representative of his school. I know some will say coincidence, Bottom line if you talk to a kid that is not zoned to you it is illegal. They have to come to you AND not after you have made contact first.Semantics.

It is funny to watch after awhile.

Here lies the problem, your's and everyone's  thinking. First, you do not see the obvious. Second, has nothing to do with pride. Third, in most cases there is no relative or friend playing. This is called very subtle illegal advertised recruiting. After the game ,you see these proud gear wearing coaches who just happen to be at the game going up to parents of good young players and asking them to look into their school. I have seen this many times.

I understand the issue, but the issue is making first contact. If the coach goes to watch the game, regardless of what he wears, and then the kid contacts him... no foul. If he approaches the kid and talks to him about coming to his school, that's a different story. At least that's my understanding of how the rules are.

should not be there anyway unless a relative is playing. you are splitting hairs. But I have first hand seen coaches ,more than one and more than once approach the parent of the child. Even ask others who is so and so's Mother or dad.  You are smart enough to know what that is. Call it what you want ,it is wrong .

Nothing illegal about being there and wearing your school apparel. Contacting kids and parents is another thing.

What if said coach is at a game for a school that is a feeder and players/parents from the opponent's team approaches the coach?

In his eyes any metro school that has or having success is recruiting.

There is nothing illegal with a parent approaching a coach from another school anywhere, whether it be at a game, church, store, or at the school. First contact has always been the main concern, it just has to be the parent and NOT a representative of the school.

That is not true. I know for a fact PC is not even close with Hillsboro now, because of MF, and Cane Ridge. PC is a distant third now. I have been dancing around this comment about illegal recruiting . It is only black coaches recruiting black kids. The white coaches in Metro can not compete with a black coach when it comes to recruiting black kids. It would be interesting to me if any white kid has been recruited bu any school in Metro.

That's a very irrational and unethical comment by "black kids" "white kids"

if you have talent ,you have talent.

Well no more dancing for 247. Pretty much just said what he feels right there. It will probably never be known but it would be interesting to know who is doing it in metro and why. The three schools mentioned already get plenty of athletes from their zones. Why not coach whomever walks in the doors. If a coach is going to recruit then recruit the kids in the hallway. Get the kids that are already there and help them be a part of the school. Just my opinion.

    • And can you tell me who those two quarterbacks were, and every kid that was put into college from Bearden is a Bearden kid? It’s kind of why they graduated from Bearden.   and I would definitely not consider ETSU “waste”…
    • Most of this is complete gibberish. But the one part I could decipher is putting kids in college. This coaching staff hasn’t put a single Bearden kid in college. They completed wasted one of the best WRs in East TN and have ruined two talented QBs. All because they’re in over their heads.
    • Well, I’d hope the new coaching staff thinks they are all that because they can always walk around the school, anytime they want, thinking that, especially for what they’ve done for the student athletes and the players, putting more kids in college in his first season than the old coaching staff did in numerous years combined, but we will just sweep over that because I know you don’t like facts. But trust me, nobody wanted Mr. Big britches, made the star player switch to quarterback, which is ultimately the reason he ended up transferring to play the position. He loved, but unfortunately, had to be at another school because Mr. Big Britches doesn’t like when a teenager knows more than him, but can’t expect much coming from a guy who used all class throwing pencils up into the ceiling and making fun of football kids who were failing class right to their face, and in front of numerous students, even projecting on the board most of the time.
    • After that first paragraph, I can see why you’re a TA and not a teacher. Have you made the move from South Knoxville to Bearden yet?    Maybe he left because he is an actual teacher and coach, and didn’t want to be associated with a group of foul mouthed middle school coaches who like to pretend they’re big time.
    • Yeah and the coach is gone. Whole bizarre situation here. We played them a couple of times at MTSU last few years. She was a player for sure.
