lakecounty1968
Is this if all privates leave? Yes if all privates leave. If not the cutoff will be slightly lower.
Southtowner
I'm not sure as many privates are leaving as most of us thought. If they stay and abide by the rules, they'll go down hill. But where there,s a rule, there,s a way around it. Sorta like the Part time Multiplier. I believe eventually all privates will opt for DII. 1RT
Why would you swap Houston Co and Summertown? If the regions look like this with 6 teams each I think it's far more likely that Waverly and Houston Co. are swapped with Summertown and Loretto. They are a lot closer to the Hickman county teams, Lewis County and CA than the region 6 teams. It would make the regions more geographically compact and make the most geographic sense for the most teams. Also, Adamsville and Riverside have already shared a region with Waverly and Houston Co. from 2005-08. BlueDevil58
Anyone know where Oakdale will end up Most likely they'll stay in District 1 along with: Cloudland Jellico Unaka Oakdale Hancock There are so few 1A schools in the far Eastern part of the state that they'll probably need to just group the 5 farthest east to create a 5 team district, unless the TSSAA pulls something weird and creates a 4 team district with automatic berths for everybody. The travel for teams like Jellico and Oakdale up to Cloudland and Unaka is insane. Jellico will probably ask to be placed in 1A. They expected to be last time and were flabbergasted that Oakdale was the team sent there instead of them a couple of years ago. They would much rather play Unaka and Hancock Co. than Coalfield and Greenback.

I know another Bluedevil team that would take those long drives every Fri night! The same team that was upset that Oakdale took advantage of it before they could.Only 1 team in that region with a heartbeat and that the Highlanders. That drive from Loretto to Mckenzie is looking like 2 and a half hours. Still 2 hours from Houston Co to Adamsville. I guess a lot could change and neither will happen. Indian
It is too late for this round but maybe in the future, if a team or two is at least 2 hours away from the nearest region opponents, do it a little differently. Have them play a schedule as near in strength as possible to what they'd be playing in the nearest region, and qualify or fail to qualify for the playoffs with those results. I wouldn't like teams losing out on a spot without losing to that team in the regular season, but it's not too different than the z plan from a few years back (even though that didn't go well). It would help smaller isolated schools and they'd still have to do well, they couldn't just coast in with a 2-8 record.

Indian
Another idea for later, if the regions turn out not to fit, causing small/large regions and/or extra travel for some is unavoidable-Go by location first then enrollment instead of the other way around. Start with the 36 most-eastern schools regardless of number then place them in order, adding 1 more due to having the same enrollment. A negative, cutoffs will be different by region, but they should not be too much different, and it's just good or bad luck anyway on if a team is at the top of Class 1A or the bottom of 2A in a given year. Here are examples for Region 1 in each class. Six teams for all but one of these, instead of some regions having 4 or 5 teams and others having 8 or 9.
