I never understood carrying another name myself....They tried to do such in 1st Corinthians and the Apostle Paul really let them have it for doing so.

They were called Anabaptists earlier on by others because the Anabaptists were "re"baptizing people that were sprinkled as a baby. The "Ana" was eventually dropped.

I had read that some time back...But Christian (as Christ, of Christ) is the name they carried in the early Church...They were also known as people of "the Way" or "That Way" 

 

Funny how all these denominations came to be, many years & decades after the Church was started in Acts.

 

Just goes to show what happens when man's wisdom enters in

I do NOT follow Paul but you should be ashamed to belittle an Apostle of Jesus Christ! And I sure don't follow the prophets and priests of the OT....I follow the Lord Jesus Christ and the word He gave to His Apostles. aka The New Testament

 

Questions:

Do you believe Jesus is the Son of God?

Brought into this world by a virgin birth?

Lived a sinless life?

Died on a cross for the sins of the whole world?

Raised from the tomb?

His blood is what cleanses and saves us today?

Is on the right hand of God as King, Lord and Savior?

Another thing is most people talk about Heaven as a singular. but it says Heavens many times.Some of them planets out there could be the Heavens.

Could be because the word used, shamayim, is a plural word.  It's used to describe 3 "heavens." 1. The air around us 2.the universe/outer space area, and 3. the Heaven that we think of as the dwelling place of God.

Yes, Paul, by the Spirit, went into the 3rd Heaven...I see it as where the Throne of God is

Let me add this about the Apostle Paul.

--Before he was saved, he was Saul of Tarsus.

--He was more learned in the old law than anyone on earth since him.

--He HATED Jesus and those of "The Way"...Christians

--With vigor he brought Christians, men and women, to Jerusalem to be put in prison.

--He approved of the stoning death of Stephen because Stephen preached of Jesus and stood against those trying to inject the old law into the gospel of Jesus... Acts 7

--The Jewish High Priest loved ole Saul because he hated Jesus as much as they did

--Saul asked for permission to go to Damascus and haul Christians back to Jerusalem to throw in prison and they gladly approved.

--In Acts 9, On the road to Damascus, Jesus came in a light and said, "Saul, why persecute tho Me"

(The Church is the body of Jesus)

Saul said, "what would you have me do Lord"

Jesus told him to go into Damascus and he would be told what to do.

--Nowhere in Acts 9 does it say Saul was saved on the road.

--Acts 22:16 The now Apostle Paul tells of that day and how he was saved.

--Nowhere in the Bible does Paul mix up his stories or tell lies.

--This type of thing started being told on Paul after his conversion. Told by the Jews that now HATED him with GREAT HATE because he started preaching Jesus. Jewish writers since then have written the same type of lies about Paul.

--They sought and sought to kill the Apostle Paul...but he preached and preached the harder.

--He suffered greatly for his persecution of the Church, but he remained faithful to the Jesus that saved him and personally taught him the Gospel he preached.

 

It would do all well to read again Acts 7, 8 ,9, 22.

Jesus supported Paul and that's enough for me to know what he preached was what the Lord gave him...Even Peter said Paul's words were true and to be received
