If God didn't give man free will, we wouldn't be dealing with all of this. Since He did, I'll choose the play, not the penalty. I've always thought that I had earned the penalty.

And that throws another monkey wrench in the beliefs. Adam was not the 1st to bring sin into the world. The whole account sounds like a fairy tale to me. If we have a loving creator ,the penalty was AWAY overboard. Why out the Tree there to start with,why allow the Serpent To DECEIVE. And if the penalty was eternal Torment,Why in Heavens sake did God not tell them. From the looks of things,mankind is paying a huge price as it is. 

 

I've typed out long responses twice now, only to delete before posting...I'll just say this; everyone's relationship with God is different. Your sin may not be my sin, and your salvation may require a different path than mine. When all is said and done, salvation is God's gift to you, and is yours for the asking...you can't barter for it or make deals with God...He needs nothing from you at all, and only wants your love and trust.

 

   There seems to be a big misconception about "punishment" for sin... God will never abandon you, nor cast you into hades...he simply provides the alternative if you choose Him over the temptations of the world.

 

   Remember the phrase "beyond all understanding"...if we were made to understand, it wouldn't require faith.

Been through a lot in my life and a lot of it had nothing to do with my choice,as I got older ,I brought lots of junk on myself. I've suffered the consequences. Bad choices brings on a lot of needless pain and troubles. Sin does have consequences. But in the end  .even the best of us endure lots of trouble. Through the Grace of God,I may live forever ,I sure can't earn it. But I've definitely not earned eternal punishment either.

And if you had the faith of a mustard seed. That goes to show that our faith is fairly weak.  Hope might be the proper word.
